SPV c500 - adding a WAV as a ringtone

Just got a nice new c500 from orange and I'd like to add a wav file as a ringtone. The manual simply states that all you have to do is upload the wav to the phone and it will be available in the list of ringtones but it isn't.

Am I missing something really obvious?

Just got mine. Wicked, isn't it !!

Connect phone to PC with ActiveSync.

(I assume your wav is on PC)

Copy & paste wav to My Smartphone Storage Application Data Sounds.

It should now appear in your list in Settings.

Make sure it is PCM-formatted, which you can check / convert with Windows Sound Recorder (in Programs, Accessories, Entertainment on most PCs)

Yep I agree a nice phone and not much bigger than my old t610. Battery life seems to be amazing. I got mine last friday and I haven't needed to charge it yet, despite a lot of use.

i've been after the poddington peas ringtone for months and months, already having the wav file but being unable to put it on my old phone, and when i finally got rid of my crappy motorola e365 *hides head in shame* and got a c500 a few weeks ago i thought the end was in sight....but then i couldnt get it appear in my sounds either! several corrupted files later and your suggestion solves it in seconds!
