Hello,

I would like to find an application which I could run on my phone (MPx200) so that it behaves like a USB Memory stick when plugged into a computer.

This is for whilst at uni where we cant use ActiveSync but can use memory sitcks.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You could ask your uni if you could use guest mode. I really can't see the difference between a memory stick and a smartphone in guest mode.

I'm no expert, as I always use ActiveSync, but when I was messing around with my mates laptop we managed to send stuff back an forth using IR without ActiveSync installed - maybe another member could elaborate?

I have been looking for the same thing and posted it......just thought I was crazy..hehe. I was told from one of my friends that there are some sort of standard for communication between the phone and windows which is not the same for a memory stick. I don't know how a memory stick works in detail but there must be some sort of "Hand shaking" for the computer to know that it is a memory stick. Therefor I was thinking of a piece of software that stays on the phone and reacts automaticaly when there is a connection to a computer or activated by the user. This software should then send this "Hand shaking" if it exist and make data transferring possible.

Such software would be very cool so you don't have to install Active sync on your friends computer who hasn't any pocket pc or smartphone.

Another solution is what I have done...I just bought a very small card reader that I can carry around in my back hehe

I really hope someone comes up with a solution for this:-)

Solution using IR?

Very easy, just hit send in Binarys Explorer and it appears on the desktop. Also sent mp3s to phone. ActiveSync had never been near the laptop.

and if you don't have a IR on those PC's you could get yourself a USB IR-port.

Bluetooth dongle would be better but you have a MPx200... I share your pain

Yes but the computer needs IR which is not standard for all desktop computers so you can not expect people to have that. The usb cable following the mpx200 would be perfect since that type of cable is being used for a lot hardware such as cameras. Therefore most people has such a cable I think...maybe thats only my friends....
