Hi,

Now I know this has been dissussed everywhere but I still can't find definitive answers after reading every thread with "alarm clock" in over the past few days. Hopefully someone has some answers to the following....(please help me!)

I have a bog standard c500. All I want is:

1. The home screen to indicate the alarm is set

2. The alarm to sound more than once(!)

3. Option to snooze

I can't belive this isnt standard functionality? Can anyone help, perhaps I am missing something???

Thanks in advance, this phone is driving me nuts

It is!

1. The in-built Orange plug-in supports this (as also found on the E200). A search of MoDaCo will pull up all the other threads discussing this, including the .xml required for the homescreen layout.

2. Make sure that the alarm sound is set to 'increasing' in the audio profile.

3. When the alarm goes, use the right soft key to snooze or dismiss.

As an alternative to 2 & 3, I can highly recommend kennyg's citytime alarms app :)

Hi,

Thanks, when you say "in built orange plug-in" what do you mean? Its already on my phone????

I know you can snooze by pressing menu then selecting snooze but thats a bit of a pain, especially when you are trying to snooze!

Thanks,

Damo

Yeah, I've searched for "Orange Alarm Plugin" and all I can find is posts telling us to search for the "Orange Alarm Plugin"!

Is it a long running joke or something?

OK, so I've found the XML, what do I do with it? Note to you peeps getting annoyed with us newbs who keep asking for this, we don't register xml code as plugins, we think you mean an actual downloadable program! xml code about as much use as a chocholate teapot to me.

I don't want to use another homescreen, I like the Orange one with the "sidebar", all I want is an alarm toggle on/off, and some indication that the alarm is set, don't care about it showing the time it's set for coz it's the same every workday!

Am sick of forgetting to turn the alarm off and getting woken up on my days off! Smartphone? Yeah also ignorantly dumb on some things. The "Ding" and no alarm indication is more than enough to make we want to bin my C500. This is a major oversight, all my previous "lesser" phones had some kind of indication that the alarm was set, a lil LCD bell or an Alarm Icon, GAH!

I absolutely detest the c500 alarm clock. I had more functionality on my Sony Ericsson t610 than on this piece of garbage app. Never mind that they've also buried it deep within the Start menu so new user's spend ages trying to find it! Why oh why did they not include a decent alarm with the phone? Now I have to shell out $$ for a third party app that does what my t610 did for free.

Dunno if this is useful for everyone, but it's how I wake up every morning...

If you don't use your calender and reminders for anything useful (like me) set up a recurring event for the time you wake up everyday.

You'll also need to change the reminder tone to something more alarmy.

It won't suit everybody but I like it because you can tailor it not to wake you up at weekends. Also it adds a 1 to the side of the nav bar on the left so you now it's primed to go off. It's also a piece of cake to do it through your PC and sync it up with the phone

As I said it works for me with no faliures to wakre me up since I got the phone just after launch.

Using the reminder sounds great! But surely it only sounds once......after a couple of shandys I'll sleep right through that

maybe this will help, put it on you phone and make sure the volume is up, if you sleep through it, its been more than shandys youve been on

Cheers for that!

A pint of late night whisky shandy usually has adverse affects.......8-[

I think maybe Orange should implement an Firework/earthquake/full scale war vibrate effect to the next SPV alarm !!

I agree that this so called "smart-phone" is pretty abysmal when it comes to a simple alarm clock function. The question still hasn't been answered by the way. How do you get a simple notification on the screen that the alarm has been set? Please don't say xml this or code that etc because I don't understand what the hell it means.... thanx.

THE best alarm program avaiable at the moment is CityTimes Alarms but i agree that this kinda functionality should have been included as standard. You can display the time the alarm is set on the homescreen, but if you don't fancy dabling with xml then just use a homescreen that already has the alarm plug in it (e.g. my C500 Mac Plus homescreen) - check out the homescreen download section.

Well, there in lies the problem. If you don't understand XML this or PLUGIN that then it's gonna be REAL hard to help you.

So either bite the bullet and learn (it ain't that hard, honest, I managed it!) or go for a custom built app.

And I GET IT with the "this is crap... my old phone was better" stuff. Enough already! Whining about it, ain't gonna get it working for you.

Yes a good excuse it would be...

but if you use a long wav file of something suitably noisy (I find a nice shot of as few loped bars of Force Mass Motion's classic hardcore anthem Panic does the trick) and you won't (unfortunately) get the chance to sleep through in your shandy induced haze...

I believe I did just that in my "haze" of last night

I was woken by 4mins of D.I.S.C.O.

I must of thought it was funny last night! Works great thought......definately usable!
