Guest Vegaskid Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 I have installed Studio.net, I have the .net framework, the latest ActiveSync, tried to install the Smartphone SDK for 2003 and when I go to Open, New, there is no Smartphone template showing anywhere. I've read a couple of other posts on here from people who had the same thing, but the suggestions given do not apply to me. I went on Microsoft's website to double check the installation requirements and have followed them. Please help....although I'm just a newbie on .net (have basic knowledge of VB6), I just wanna create some nice simple apps for my phone and move on from there. Thanks.
Guest Peter Foot Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 The Smartphone templates are within the Smart Device Application project type. Once you select this you'll get a wizard with a choice of Platform (Windows CE, Pocket PC and Smartphone 2003) and project type (Windows Application, Code Library (dll) or Console (Non-graphical) Application. You'll need Visual Studio 2003 Professional or higher edition for this functionality - lower editions don't feature Smart Device Development. Also ensure that when you install the Smartphone 2003 SDK you don't have any Antivirus software which may block the installation scripts. Peter
Guest Vegaskid Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 I think its the version thats the problem. Is VS.net 2003 the version after just VS.net? And have they skipped straight on to VS.net 2005 and can I upgrade to 2005 or do I have to get the full version? Yes....I ask a lot of questions dont I?
Guest Peter Foot Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 VS 2005 is in Beta at the moment, this also includes NETCF v1.0 development for Smartphone 2003. The current released version of Visual Studio is 2003 - and this is what you'll need to develop .NETCF apps now. Peter
