Hey all.. I noticed today that my backlight is not turning off... and it's reducing my battery incredibly. I can't find anything that will sort it out...have turned off the phone a couple of times to no fix... I dont want to hard reset it as I dont want to lose my contacts and customisations.

can anyone help me out?

thanks

Have you checked the settings in Start-Settings-Power Management ?

Exactly the same thing happened to me the other day!

I don't want to point fingers but maybe it was a feature of a program (such as betaplayer) that stops the backlight going off that was incorrectly exited and didn't switch it back on again. Just speculation. It actually occurred when I plugged the phone in to charge. The backlight came on, and never went off again!

Anyway, here's what I did to sort it:

Start->Settings->More...->Power Management

Changed 'Backlight time out' (even though it was already set to 10 seconds)

Pressed 'Done' back to start menu

Fixed!

Repeat above if you want to change back to the setting that it previously was (e.g. 10 seconds)

So even though the time out appeared to be set correctly it wasn't until I changed it that it started working again.

Hope it works for you too.

Thanks martin and rickwookie...

Rickwookie - it was exactly as you stated...mine was already on 5 seconds to time out... wierd...but now that I think of it...I removed my battery when playing betaplayer (it had crashed) and since then the backlight never went off... thanks alot - it was REALLY annoying.
