Guest hamstar50 Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 Hi guys, for those of you who are good with the registry and stuff, anyone know what the value should look like for both increasing ring and vibrate 'on' together? Any help is much appreciated. Many thanks.
Guest hamstar50 Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 it's ok folks..hold the scrum... figured it out. In case anyone wants to know, its as follows: For Vibrating increasing ring, use this: ‘c50av0pw2c150r’
Guest lutzh Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 ...where, buddy, where? cheers, lutz
Guest hamstar50 Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 using a registry editor for smartphone like PHM Registry Editor, not got the phone in front of me, so this may not be quite accurate but: Hkey Current User -> Control Panel -> Sounds -> Ringtone0 -> Script and change the 'value data' to what I mentioned above. This will allow the phone to ring with increasing volume (start low and gradually increasing) whilst still vibrating as well. This is my personally preferred ringing method. Seems to not like continous tones at all though - like MP3s. The way SPV works is it plays the whole sound at a small volume and then repeats it when finished at a louder volume. If your tone is a MP3 or quite long, then it may not finish before the call ringing period therefore volume will never go louder than the lowest volume. Hope that makes sense - if anyone can rephrase that, go for it :-)
Guest hamstar50 Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Hey Lutz, Seen your posts over the last couple of years or so. Always come the picture of the guy...is that you? I'm not gay or anything, but handsome lookin fella. Lookin sharp. Birds must fall (at your feet, so to speek)
Guest lutzh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 thanks for the compliment! since i am married with children i get a little more wrinkled but hey i can live with myself. birds don't fall at my feet but at least my kids love me :-) now back to topic - its definitly the way i want my phone to alert me when i get calls - since 1993 all nokias can do it but not my loved smartphone. thanks for the exact manual on how to do it. cheers, lutz
Guest midnight Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 surprised you didnt know about that one lutz, what with being a regular and all :)
Guest lutzh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 you're right in this one. sometimes i am really surprised by myself that i missed cool things. every day i learn a little more... btw: what ringtone/vibrating mode do i have to pick then to have increasing ring + vibrations? cheers, lutz
Guest Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Is there something that can be put in the registry for vibrate then ring and vibrate? You can select vibrate then ring from the control panels but the vibration stops when the ringing starts which is annoying.
Guest midnight Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 modify the reg key (HKCU/Control Panel/Sounds/Ringtone0 ... Script): v3w3c50apv0c150r (this will also repeat the ringtone correctly without the 3 second wait) (vibrate 3 seconds, wait thress seconds, start volume 50, audio, play, vibrate, end volume 150, repeat) taken from an old thread here (was used for the alram, but scripts are same for both alarm and ringtones).
Guest lutzh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 and my question, midnight? what ringtone/vibrating mode do i have to pick then to have increasing ring + vibrations? thanks, lutz
Guest Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Cool, been wnating to change hte vibrate. Bit too weak for my liking. WIll give this a go tonight
Guest midnight Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 lutz, same as above, just minus the v3w3 (c50apv0c150r) as mentioned by hamstar50
Guest lutzh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 nononono, midnight, i mean in setup/profile/ring type! do i choose vibrate then ring/vibrate and ring/vibrate/ring? cheers,k lutz
Guest midnight Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 the reg setting overrides anything you put into the ringtype in profiles, oh, and also resets the reg setting if you go into profiles aswell, so make sure you make all your profile changes before changing the reg settings.
Guest lutzh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 ohhh, thats bad, since i use a automatic profile switch for office/home (based on tinygps). so i guess i can't use it then :-( thanks midnight. cheers, lutz
Guest midnight Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 err, yeh, that should be fine i think, its only if you go into edit the profile it gets reset i think (if not, let me know, cos there is a profile edit you can make that fixes this :))
Guest lutzh Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 thanks again midnight, got it now (and working). cheers, lutz
Guest hamstar50 Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Midnight - not sure if this is what you mean you have a fix for but... ...after I changed the reg value, thigs are fine as they should be (increasing ring + vibrate together) but if I change to another profile sike 'Silent' for example and then go back to my 'Normal' profile (which is the edited one), it resets itself to the default (thus loosing any changes I made). Anyway round this? Is there something that makes it a little more perminant? Cheers guys
Guest izzyK Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 I have a question and an answer. First of all, to make changes to the ringtone settings more permanent you can edit the profile xml. I have just changed normal.prof.xml which I found in Storage>application data>profiles. I know I should have copied it and created a new profile, but I didn't. I just copied it onto my PC, ( I did make a backup) and then edited the actual file. I changed the value parameter (on about the 7th line) to have whatever string was suggested in the previous posts. In my case I put: "c50av0pc150r" to have vibrate and increasing ring and no wait between loops. I then found I had to set the attribute of the file back to System before copying it back to the phone. You do this by : Start>run>cmd on your pc, then navigating to the folder you have your edited xml file in and typing in: attrib +s normal.prof.xml ( or whatever file you have changed). I then copied it back to the phone over the file that was there before. I then switched to another profile and then back to "normal" to relaod the normal file. And it worked. It will stay like that even if you switch profiles, but it won't survive actual editing of the profile on the phone. eg changing the volume or something like that. My question is: I want to have an increasing tone, but I want it to start louder than it does. I've tried putting "c100av0pc150r" thinking it might start louder, but that just goes straight to the loudest and doesn't increase. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks, Isabelle
Guest DarkDan Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 Hey Gang, I got here as a result of a Yahoo! search. Obviously I've found the experts in ringtone/vibrating alert editing... So I come to you with a challenge. Does anyone know how to edit the "length" of vibration on a Pocket PC Phone Edition? Meaning instead of having the phone go "Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzz" for 3 seconds, instead it goes "Buuuuuzz" for 1. Challenge extended. Good luck. :-) Dan
