Guest Montana Posted October 5, 2004 Report Posted October 5, 2004 Will the MPX 220 be available for AT&T or does it even matter since cingular carries them and will be apart of At&t sooner or later? :)
Guest srg59 Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Yes, at least in Maine. I just visited an AT&T store looking for some help with my dead 200. The mgr told me they would be selling the 220 within the next month. Unfortunatly, for those of us smart enough to dump ATTWS, we will not be able to purchase the phone though them, not even at full retail. However, I'm guessing the discount for purchasing the new phone with a 2 year contract + the early termination fee may be close to, or even less than the retail price. Eat one AT&T!
Guest Montana Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 haha maybe get it elsewhere or on amazon and unlock it yeah att can eat a fatty. posted from my i-paq
Guest srg59 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 There's a very good chance the AT&T / Cingular branded phones will ship unlocked. The rep at at&t said most of the new phones their getting are arriving unlocked because of the upcoming merger.
Guest gsr264 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 They are 95% sure they will be merged by Novemeber. This being the case, I think the phone will be released on cingular nationwdie on the 15th, with att 'absorbing' it into their inventory around the 25th. All GSM phones from both att and cingualr as being shipped unlocked and in plain boxes not specific to either company as of last week.

Guest Montana Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Well that would make it about 1 year that i had the mpx200, Time to waste another $300.. cant wait!!!!
Guest MadSci Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Not to cross-post, but I said this in another section of the 220 forum. My local AT&T shop, now sporting ONLY Cingular colours and is ONLY selling Cingular phones. If you want a 220, only the Cingular branded version is giong to be sold. They even removed that 220 mock-up they were showing last week, but haven't got a Cingular version to replace it. Manager said they were expecting the Cingular 220 by Thanksgiving, but he wasn't optimisitic about that date. Existing AT&T customers who want to buy it will have to migrate to the Cingular network, and will be given the "New Customer" price and rebates for the phone. In addition there will be some kind of additional rebate if you trade in your AT&T Mpx200. He had no idea what the prices/rebates were going to be.
Guest kfernandes29 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Just received my AT&T MPx220. It is not unlocked. I guess only the cingular branded 220's are unlocked. Anyone know where I can unlock this MPx220 for a reasonable price? Thanks.
Guest Godfather Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Where did you get the AT&T version of the MPx220? I want one, if it has all the fixes of course like the sound and camera problem.
Guest MotoBaller Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 i have a cingular phone but a att sim card...and the att sim card work in the cingular phone...the mpx220 i bought when it first came out at best buy...so i guessed it was unlocked
Guest jive Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 I have had both .325 version of the MPx220 and the new 1.30 and both are unlocked to T-mobile Att and Cing. as i have all 3 sims and they read just fine.. btw i purchased the phone directly through cingular direct. and yes ATT is already part of cingular.
Guest Godfather Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Hey, jive how is the phone now with the 1.30? What all did they fix. Is the speaker phone louder and can people hear you when you talk and can you hear them? What about the camera, any better? Does anyone know if AT&T will still get the phone themselves?
Guest jive Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Yea Camera ALOT better.. it was soo *#(# on the older fw.. speaker.. iono havent tried it yet..
Guest lmrud Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I got one from our rep the other day . f/w .343 seems fine.
Guest Godfather Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Hey kfernandes29, is AT&T selling the MPx220? How did you get an AT&T MPx220?
Guest fowen Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 In order to get a AT&T MPx220 you need to have a foundation account and order it through NBO. Mine came today and I got it for 200$ with of course no contract extensions :-)
Guest chanceu Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 Call Cingular and tell them you want to migrate from blue to orange. It doesn't cost anything and it only takes a couple days. Since you already have the Cingular phone, all they have to do is send you a new SIM. It's sort of like number porting only easier and faster. Or you can go to a Cingular store and it will be done in a few minutes. I finally got tired of waiting for AT&T to release the MPx220, so I took the plunge to get the phone.
Guest Godfather Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 i would switch from blue to orange but the only problem is that there text messaging sms plans are weak. I receive around 1500-2000 messages a month and all from clients to news alerts and friends etc. The highest plan cingular has is like 750 a month and that's including both ways of sending and receiving. I can't beleive they are charging for receiving. They should adapt to att's text sms message plan. But all I can say right now is that I will be staying with att for as long as i can or until cingular gets better text message plans.
Guest chanceu Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I don't know if you want an Internet plan, but they do have a plan called Media Works that gives you 1500 text messages and unlimited Internet for $20/month. That is good since AT&T was charging me $10/month for 10MB of Internet. I'm also willing to bet that they have plans with more text messages. You can't tell me that they, now being the largest cellular provider in the US, are willing to lose teenagers because of text messaging...but stranger things have happened.
