Guest ixus_123 Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 I have just recieved my 256mb miniSD & have jam packed it with all manner of junk. I'm using Beta Player which sems to handle most of my needs but I was wondering if there is an alternative to Windows Media Player on the C500? I just can't seem to get full screen with the stock WMP - it just flips the picture sideways but wont enlarge it. Secondly, are there any players that can handle QuickTime .mov formats? I have a couple of files in that format & also like getting movie trailers from their site as well as all their stylish self promoting video. I have tried renaming the file extentions to mp4 & 3gp with no result. Oh while I'm in here (& kind of on topic), is there a way to get IE to handle Flash files? I have some stupid lash animations I would like to get on my phone like bang bang bang etc below are links to the formats I am having trouble with: Magic Flash animation latest movies in quicktime
Guest Dr Who Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 You shouls also be coding your videos to the correct screensize of 220x176, otherwise you are making the processor work hard to display full screen or it will do what WMP does and play it actual size, sideways. I code everything to .wmv at 220x176 and it goes full screen in WMP.

I'm not coding to wmv - they are coming like that from the internet. most are 320 pixels wide & being web ready I wouldn't have thought they would be too taxing. Betaplayer seems to manage fine scaling up & down my mpegs - I don't know why WMP wont - I'm guessing bug.
Guest Dr Who Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Should still recode your files. Download windows media encoder and you can change the size very easily. I am guessing that you can do exactly the same thing with movie maker which comes with XP. If the screen size is set correctly WMP will play them full screen.
Guest ixus_123 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 you need PocketTV I shall try that. Thanks. Anyone got PocketMVP (Music & Video Player) working on the C500, out of interest?

I don't use Windows on anything bar my phone. 320x240 - it wont enlarge - encoded with WMV V9 240x180 - it will enlarge - encoded with WMV V8 My internet died on me earlier - I'm going to try the other player & see how it fairs :) please find a useful guide to folding shirts attached - this one plays full screen for me
Guest ixus_123 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 hmm - I'm not getting the attachment thing here's a direct link to my server. I'll leave it there to the weekend if anyone wants another stupid video to add to their collectiion. (uptime may be a bit random esp. at night) clothes.zip]http://kieren.demonclothes.zip
Guest ixus_123 Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 you need PocketTV anyway to install that on the phone as I don't have a Windows PC. Seems a bit daft to me to need a PC to install things when the phone seems to be able to handle installs itself
Guest midnight Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 re-sizing to 220 x 176 just makes sense aswell due to it being a much smaller filesize, and if you play around with the video and sound compression suddenly a 20mb file becomes a 10mb file ^_^
Guest Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 you need PocketTV Can that play QuickTime files (.mov)? I'm sure it can't. Is there one?
