USB Charging with Activesync?

Hi,

When connected up at home via USB, my C500 charges up but when at work and i plug the USB lead into my pc it doesn't charge. The only difference is that my PC at work doens't have Activesync (and i aint got admin privilages so i cant install it)

does the phone have to be connected via Activesync for it to charge via USB or is their another way?
