Guest Sp3ctre Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Is this possible... the C500 does not seem to have any file transfer protocol installed? I can "beam" the other way, but not IPAQ to C500??
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 I have managed to successfully send a CAB file from an XDAII (basically same as an IPAQ) to a C500 without issue. Check that you have "Allow Incoming Beams" checked under the BEAMS section in settings, this needs to be checked for your C500 to receive anything via Bluetooth or infra-red.

Guest shadamehr Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Have you tried an Infra red send first, just to check to see if it's a Bluetooth Communcications issue first..?

Guest shadamehr Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Ok... USUALLY, if the phone can't find the OTHER device, it's the OTHER device that's at fault, in that it's not set as discoverable, or, like a motorola phone, can only be set to discoverable for 60 seconds before turning Bluetooth off. So suggestion 2 would be to see if you can 'find' your ipaq from another device... Also, bear in mind, that for whatever poor reason, the C500 often finds other devices but only reports its unique id code, intead of the actual visible name of the device...

It seems to be able to "find" the device ok in the bluetooth section, the problem comes when you do a beam... nothing happens... infra-red says "align ports" and below it is just "searching". when I use my ipaq to connect to my friends sony phone, it gives serial port, dial-up, and also a file transfer service.... when I connect to the SPV, it finds it ok but there is only serial port and dial up... no file transfer at all... am I missing something here, I mean they are both windows OS's... *surely* they must be able to transfer files between them?
Guest Lojt Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I have the same problem, i dont think its possible. :|
Guest Sp3ctre Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I have the same problem, i dont think its possible. :| it's crazy though, isn't it... don't see why the phone can't have some kind of protocol installed to enable it??
Guest floppydonkey Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 I tried to send a 3mb mp3 from K700 to c500 via IR, it seems to send but wont comlete, they both just sit there at 99% completed. Agghhhh! I sent a 50k image and that was in the STORAGE>MY DOCUMENTS. It seems that there is a limit on the amount it will rec via IR/BT, like 51k. annoying
Guest shadamehr Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Having encountered BT sending issues myself recently, I installed Binarys Smart Explorer. Jeez. It's MUCH better at sending over BT. So my advice - try that! I have noticed that having my BT headset left on causes loads of problems when sending files though, until AFTER my phone is next switched off then back on...
