Guest Mujja Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Hi, 1st post and it's not a good one :) Had the phone for a week now and this site has been very useful, thanks. Onto the problem, earlier I pressed the power button to put the phone into silent mode and it turned itself off. While the phone is off the LED flashes blue continuously. The only way I can get the phone to turn back on is by removing the battery. When the battery is inserted the phone powers itself up, it doesn't wait for me to press the power button. My guess is the power button is stuck down and not being released. The button is recessed and has very little, if any travel. Having only used the power button a couple of times I can't recall if this is normal. Any ideas on what the flashing blue led is telling me? Does it sound like the power button is stuck? I hope I don't have to return the phone, I've just had a bluetooth car kit installed less than and hour ago and I wanted to start playing with it  edit: forgot to add, when the phone does power up it will sit at the start screen happily and only power off as soon as I touch a button.
Guest Mujja Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 While trying to do a hard reset by removing the battery and replacing it buy holding onto the soft keys the phone has comepletey died. It won't power on anymore and the blue led has stop flashing, RIP
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Sounds like you need to make a warranty claim on that poor sucker! Orange should replace it without issue.
Guest Mujja Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Am I allowed to mention names of retailers on this forum? Anyway, the shop where I bought the phone from have no replacements in stock. I bought their last handset 8 days ago and they haven't had any in since. They said more are expected on Monday. I called 3 other local branches and they were out of stock too. So I called Orange to see what they could do and as I don't have Orange Care they can't send me a replacement. It not really an emergency getting a replacement, I'm just mad because I've spent all week getting to know the phone and customising it, finally got BT Activesync working nicely 2 days ago and this morning spent 2 hours typing all my contacts into Outlook and then syncing them across. Atleast the contacts haven't been lost. I've also been waiting a whole week to get my old handa free kit replaceed with a new BT one and the phone dies less than 15 mins after I get the kit fitted, didn't even get a chance to make a call on it :). Oh! well, I would have had to wait until Monday for the 256MB miniSD card to arrive before I could start installing some serious apps onto the phone. It's still the nicest phone I've owned and I'm not going to let one bad experience put me off. In the meantime I'll continue reading the fun you all are having with your C500s on these fine fourms.
