Also if i upgrade to 2003 can i stil use the add on camera and how can i backup my current 2002 OS? and what files do i need to backup?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Ok first things first :) Welcome to the site  To install apps there are various ways with different file extensions. .cab and .hme these are basically the same and the best way to install these are to place them in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories then on the phone you can go to your accessories folder and select and install them. .exe there are two types of exe files one is a self installer that you run from your PC and the other is just a stand alone app that runs on your phone. When installing apps try to make sure you install them to the storage card to save space on your phone. As for 2003 yes you can still usse your camera but you will need to reinstall the drivers for it, but as for installing it I would not rush into it as a lot of people have upgraded and the regret doing so and then want to return to 2002. Read some of the posts below and decide for yourself
Guest pcarr10 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 i only want 2003 so i can get mp3 ringtones, i want to have my own ringtones and that seems to be the only way i can, i read about the sticking the ringtones on sd which is fine but how do i get into the registry editor? load up notepad?
Guest pcarr10 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 i tried to install something like you said and it says the program does not have the right system permission and i should contact my provider or something along those lines.
Guest pcarr10 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 ok it also says it isnt digitally signed, arrgg why cant this be as simple as the symbian OS? i suppose it is windows so i shoudnt be suprised.
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 You need to application unlock your phone. Click -> OTA
Guest pcarr10 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 ok i tried it from the orange thing and it was installed but no good at all and also i tried that alphaflux programme and it said once again you dont have permission or whatever contact your administrator or whatever it says grrrrr.
Guest pcarr10 Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 sorry it says access denied coz of no digital signature, what else can i do about this?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 The alphaflux method has not worked for a long time now the only way is to use the Orange developers site. What happens when you go to that site and try to unlock?
Guest pcarr10 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 ive downloaded it and installed it on my phone and i also tried to sms way and tried downloading it on my phone, still no luck, it installs fully but i still get the same message.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 You get the "is not signed message" ? You will need to contact the developers site via email explain the problem and give them your phone model and IMEI they will then create an unlock app designed to work on only your phone. Please be patient as they are busy and it can take a while before they send you the file.
Guest xxcrashxx Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 (edited) sorry it says access denied coz of no digital signature, what else can i do about this? would it be possiable to use the embedded visual c++ 4.0 and create a digital signature on your own for the apps??? im not too sure if this will work, i havent gotten my mpx200 yet. but ive been lookin around for apps and i was looking for a smartphone emulator, so that i could test out some apps on my computer before i put them onto the phone. anyone know about the emulator??? or anything like that?? cuz ive seen some ppl on here who upload screenshots, it looks like they use some sort of emulator. ps. sorry if i revived a dead thread. does anyone on here get anal if a thread gets revived?? Guest Disco Stu Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Frankly, I'm fascinated to see what gem of information has been dredged up from the depths. The odd thing is that some members do not even realise how old the previous post is. In fact we're all working with C+++ nowadays... :) :D I can't actually help you with that but I imagine the screenshots are usually created with ActiveSync Remote Display, a part of Windows Mobile Power Toys from the MSDN Library. http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/windows...ault.aspx#ptoys
Guest xxcrashxx Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 so basically the only way i can test out the apps before is put them on the phone, is if i have the phone connected to the computer??
Guest James Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 unless you have the cab files to put onto your phone (some developers offer these) you need to run the exe from a PC with your phone connected via Active Sync.
Guest xxcrashxx Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 i have the cab files that i wanna test out, but my question was, do i need to have the phone connected to through activesync so that i can run the emulator?? if so, ive only gotta wait a few days till i get it in the mail. :) sortof my christmas gift to me. lol
