Guest agehoops Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Why is it that whenever i try to install a skin i want, that is in a .CAB file, no matter what skin (or atleast all the ones i've tried haven't worked, about 5) give me an error message saying: "installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have adequate system permissions." what the hell do i do now? I want to install a skin. It's the SPV C500, and i think it's also happened on an application i tried to install. Someone please help me. Cheers
Guest beersoft Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 hi have you application unlocked your phone? because it sounds like your trying to install a homescreen that has the extra screens skinned and that needs an unlocked phone click on the OTA link for the quick and easy way to do it later Owen
Guest agehoops Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 yes. I thinks unlocked. Seeing as the other applications i've installed have worked, like smart explorer and things like that. I bought it off ebay, and it was completely unlocked, so i've got it on virgin mobile. I'm pretty sure it is software unlocked, but just whenever i try to install those, they dont work. Also, when i tried that mycabbage thing or something, menuboost and speedbost, they also gave the same message whn i tried to install them. What's going on? It's weird :?
Guest beersoft Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 ahh its sim unlocked but not application unlocked run the OTA unlock and everything will work later Owen
Guest agehoops Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 OK, now i'm really confused. I just went to the orange OTA site, and did the unlock, and despite being on another network, and not orange, it worked. and now the skins work. Why is it then, that other applications worked before i did this????? Aidy
Guest kjk Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 . Why is it then, that other applications worked before i did this????? Aidybcoz some app's are digitaly signed to work with lock smartphones

Guest dodding nonkey Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 My man, nobody looks stupid for asking a question! Stupid questions are easily dealt with, stupid mistakes take longer to deal with! ^_^ Life is a learning curve...the longer do something the less steep the curve, I'm sure even the mods are still learning (correct me if I'm wrong Oh Demi-Gods! ) We mere mortals have to ask questions in order to learn!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Having only had my c500 for a week in the 7 weeks i've had it, i still have a lot to learn about how to unbreak it! ^_^
