When I was choosing my upgrade phone with Orange customer services it was about three phone calls of winging with the choice they had given me before the operator offered me the SPV. When I asked him why he hadn't offered me this phone the first time, he replied by saying not many people liked this phone :? Now compared to the other choices they gave me (Moto V500, SE T610 etc) I can't see where they would get such bizare idea's from????

Are we missing somthing here? Is there somthing very un-cool about these phones? Is it not a good thing if your phone can just about do anything specs wise and look good at the same time

No, its to do with the amount of returns they have had with the original SPVs. As a manager of a mobile phone retailer, I can sympathise with them not recommending earlier SPVs due to the number of returns and customer service issues we have had because of them.

As technologically savvy people, we on this forum dont become overly alarmed when our phone hangs, we live with it and reboot. When we notice software bugs we live with it until Orange release a firmware update which fixes it. The majority of people out there however do not think like us and will bring it back to the store for a replacement the very first time it hangs.

The SPV and SPV e200 caused me no end of grief with customer returns and I got fed up explaining that the odd mess up was to be expected. As such I stopped recommending them after a while and I would imagine that most other retailers felt the same. Before anyone has a pop at me, I have owned both the original SPV and the e200 and loved them to bits, the point I am trying to get across is that most people dont think like us and hate stuff that doesnt work perfectly.

The SPV C500, which I now own, is a different kettle of fish, and the software is a LOT more stable. I do, and will continue to, recommend this bad-boy of a handset to anyone who will listen.

I think thats a very valid point from Chaser and further more people have been brought up on Nokia. They dont realise the differences and may not even be that bothered by the things the phone can do when it crashes and dosent call or text.Hard though it is to believe not everyone knows about the wonderful world of modaco and subsequently it is easier and less time consuming for a retailer to refund or replace or not even recommend in the first place which is a real pity

Oh Well hey ho
