Guest arotne Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Hello everyone. I have read the fooking manual and i have searched hi'n'lo' on this and other forums but I cannot find an explanation to what the "channels" that I can enable on my looooovely new C500 are... would anyone of the smart guys have time for giving us less knowledgeable ones an explanation?
Guest zeta101 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 ive not heard the word channels to describe any feature on the c500, and off the top of my head i cant think what you mean..who has told you/where have u read about these "channels" exactly?
Guest martin Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I believe the channels are to do with receiving broadcast messages when you move between cells on the network. I don't think many network operators implement broadcast messaging.
Guest squall Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 its under settings/phone Its a network feature and not much of one at that. I dont know if its still used these days.
Guest zeta101 Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 is it that thing that lets you recieve the areacode your in based on what cell youre connected to?
Guest fozzie Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 is it that thing that lets you recieve the areacode your in based on what cell youre connected to? No.
Guest lutzh Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 absolutely yes, zeta101. but that depends in what your carrier transmits - here in germany on vodafone i get the area codes that i get cheaper rates (the one i am in and the neighbour cell) inside. all i have to do is creating channel 50 and installing the cell broadcast plug in on my home screen. cheers, lutz
