Bluejacking on the SPV C500

Hi - my first post here, got my C500 yesterday. And yes, I've read all the FAQs and device specific stuff, but I need to know this:

How can I send a picture via bluetooth? It gives me the option to send but only via email or MMS. I tried using the file explorer to do it, and it appears I can "beam" it over IR, and it starts to scan for BT devices in a normal way...it picks up my N-Gage, then tries to send.

The N-Gage displays its usual "accept BT message from SPV C500?" thing and I press "yes", but nothing happens.

Surely there has to be some way!

AND BTW - I am currently writing a guide on bluejacking on the C500 to be made available at www.bluejackq.com if anyone has any tips and advice they think I should include?

When you hit BEAM in the file explorer it will also look for bluetooth devices ^_^

Hopefully a stand alone application will become available soon to send arbituary text instead of having to beam text written in contacts...

in the explorer goto beam ir. Strange as it is the bluetooth send is listed here, it does take a while to find devices

Yeah, cheers guys - I worked that one out while I was testing it in the shop!

What I need to know is how to send pics? I've even tried attaching them to contacts, but that doesn't work either.

And also, I've attached a picture to a contact, but when I look at the contact in the contacts list, there is no mention of it or thumbnail or anything, and when they call me the pic doesn't appear?

You have to send it via the file explorer.

Find the file the hit send->via IR

It will also look for bluetooth devices, trust me :D

Oh, and welcome to the forum ^_^

Cheers for the welcome! I tried doing it the file explorer way but it just wouldn't send...maybe the N-Gage has a problem receiving pictures over BT?

When I tried the built in file explorer to try and send to a Nokia 6600 it always timed out to the home sreen before the name of the device appeared however it works fine with the Binarys File Explorer.

Jackofall...

You totally saved me typing my post.

Piece of advice to C500 users having Bluetooth File Send issues...

Ditch the inbuilt File Manager, and install Binarys Smart Explorer instead...

I too had EXACTLY the same timeout errors as Jackofall with the built in app.

Smart Explorer has had me sending videos to Nokia 6600s, 7610s, Text notes to 6230's etc.

It's a LOT better!

I have set my homescreen timeout to 'Never' in Settings-Homescreen as I found it was causing a problem with a few apps.

I now just click the home key when I need to ^_^

That explorer program keeps resetting my "user info" page.. and it's even worse than the original file explorer for sending files. It can't connect to anything!!

and...I can't open folders that aren't already open...

Sounds like you may not have the latest version on your phone,

as it works fine on my C500.

Cheers for the reply - there were a few teething problems, but I've sorted them out, customised how I like it, and learnt how to work a smartphone now.

Thanks very much!!

Can someone please list what keys/options they pressed to send a pic via bluetooth?

I have never been able to get this to work on my C500 and when I phoned Orange they said sending files/pics via bluetooth is not supported, only handsfree or headset.

When I use SmartExplorer I select the file and go into File > Send & Receive > Send by infrared - it starts to search then says No devices found ^_^

Well are there any BT devices in the area? Check by trying to send a contact first. The receiving device must have bluetooth on, be discoverable, and able to accept incoming contacts...
