Guest randys Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Is it possible to listen to streaming audio from the internet on the phone..? I know I'd have to find a source using a very low bitrate... there are radio station type places broadcasting at 24kbs... which would be close.. What program would I need on the phone...? Is there something like a mini-mini version of Winamp...? What about the other end... any suggestions on audio sources that I might want to check... I.e. is there a talk radio station that streams at something lower than 24kbs... Reasonable voice should be possible in 12-16kbs streams... Thanks in advance....
Guest randys Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 Thanks for the reply... however, I found no links or actual information at the provided reference.... Any chance we can try again...?
Guest squall Posted October 9, 2004 Report Posted October 9, 2004 log in and download the file on the second post, it has links to audio streams
Guest randys Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 OK... now I see them.... but, the newbie continues to have problems... I can connect to the sample radio stations listed from my desktop.... verifying the service is online.. etc... However, when attempting to connect from my Pocket IE in the MPx200, I get an "Internal Server Error" message. The phone indicates it is attempting to connect.. etc... same problem on several of the stations.... Any additional suggestions...? Can I link to the station from my pocket Media Player...? Thanks in advance for any help...
Guest tendomentis Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 I keep several radio stations saved on my mpx200 for listening when I'm commuting or otherwise BORED. I used to keep the links in my favorites in PIE, but that got cumbersome becasue I would first have to go in to PIE to click the links and then wait for it to download the asx file and then send it to the media player and then wait for the media player to connect and buffer and FINALLY play the stream. So I opened my favorite radio stations on my home computer, got a base asx file template, copied the location data from the audio stream, and wrote separate asx files for each radio station I wanted. This is one of my favorite radio stations, I'm posting it as an example. If you want to test it, just copy the text starting with and paste it into a text file. Save the text file as a .asx file and launch it in media player. WMKV 89.3 FM Cincinnati, Ohio 513-772-9658 or 1-877-772-9658 If you copy this file over to your smartphone and put it somewhere in your start menu (I actually have a whole folder in my start menu labeled Online Radio just for this), when you select the file it will open DIRECTLY in media player and start connecting. You won't have to do the run around from PIE to WMP anymore. By the way, you can use the asx file I posted as a template if you remove the information that is only specific to that station (the title and ref href information). Hope this helps.
Guest tendomentis Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Sorry about that. Most of the ASX file was removed when I posted my message before. I've attached it to this post. Just remove the .zip extension to use it. Hope this helps.01.asx.zip
