trouble sending large files to my miniSD

hello,

I'm having trouble sending large videos files (100megs) to my miniSD. (256meg)

I would prefair to send them via the card reader as it is much quicker but when i but in the card my computer locks up... (card read works fine with other cards)

So when i send large files via active-sync its very slow but when it gets to 40% or so, it goes back to 0% and starts again (even with convert on or off)

Any ideas?

i've looked into it a little, i think its to do with the way the card is formated. the spv likes it but pc doesn't...

I formated my miniSD via TaskManager SP on my phone and then put it in the card reader on pc and it was ok. I think you can only do this once because when you put the miniSD card back in the phone, the phone alters the card back to when your pc can't read it

Tedblight,

Exactly the same thing is happening to me.. the file transfer gets to about 40% then re-starts.. highly annoying!

I had a look on the TaskManager on the phone, but I couldn't find the place you are referring to for formatting the MiniSD card. Could you please point me to the right bit for this?

Cheers,

Steve

I often copied large files, sometimes up to 180MB, to the SD card on my my original SPV via activesync and I also noticed that the transfer bar would reset several times during the copying process. To investigate, I opened up a second explorer session to the SPV card and confirmed that the file WAS actually still copying correctly (by watching the file size increase).

Try ignoring the transfer counter and leaving the copy process to complete. It always worked for me on the original SPV but I haven't tried very large files on the C500 yet.

On saying that, the only change I would make on the C500 is to set the homescreen timeout to never as I found that a jump to the homescreen often stalled running applications.

Cheers for that link ted ^_^ I'll grab that prog then..

Martin, I'll check out the transfer in the way you have mentioned.. it certainly looked like it was failing but maybe i was just being impatient..?

Thanks for the replies guys.. i'll let you know if this works.. i really dont want to have to open up the c500 every time i want to put a big movie or mp3 on it..

Cheers,

Steve

no problem. I only open up my C500 if i have a big movie to transfer as a card reader is a lot faster than via the cable. Mp3s ect i do via cable.

I had this problem as well. The transfer counter would reset to 0 several times whilst copying large files, but the transfer doesnt fail, it does still copy across the file, you have to be patient.
