Hello one and all.

I've recently upgraded my SPV to the newer C500, and I'm quite impressed with it so far.

Any good tips to get the full potential out of it?

On my old fone, I had a Green Day track for a ringtone, and remember having to convert it from an MP3 to a WAV file. Is this true again for the new C500?

Was suprised they swapped from SD to a mini SD card, but then again, the space-saving contributes to the weight and size of the new fone.

Thanks,

you should eb able to use anu .wma (windows media player) file as ringtones now.

Memory card behind the battery seems to be a good idea to me now after I just lost a 256 from my e200 whilst out on thew lash.

yeah don't use WAV for ringtones WMA MUCH better quality and smaller too (even stereo!) - for some reason doesn't work for alarms or email / sms alerts though ^_^

If you are using decent settings then WAV will always be better quality than a compressed file type (wma, mp3, aatrac etc etc)

I don't think anyone would ever argue that mate, but compare file size between WAV and WMA, then listen to the results, why would you want WAV?

The only thing I have found is that for whatever reason the sound settings for Alarms, email, SMS etc mean that the phone seems to only search for WAV, which means you are back to 8bit 11Khz. For ringtones WMA is the only choice IMHO...

I can't argue with you on the smaller file size, and so didn't - but you specifically said that WMA was much better quality, to the point you felt you had to shout it. You even then went on to imply that a wav couldn't be in stereo.

yep I see your point I could have put it much better, sorry

There is no point in stero as ringtones as the phone only has one speaker = mono

Unless you have a hands free kit? 5.1 surround ring tones, bring it on!

what i don't get is why the C500 won't play mp4 ringtones - my E200 did it perferctly! Small files size and unlike wma, won't show up in WMP. So annoying when you're listening to music with your phone in your pocket and it plays your ringtone file...

I was refering to the fact stereo WMA's are smaller and much better quality than 11Khz Mono WAV - I have already stated that I didn't explain very well it was very late when I posted
