A few questions for the C500 (MMS, certificate ao)

Hi

I got my C500 a little over a week ago. I have read a lot already, but still I have a few loose ends. If someone would care to help out, I would be grateful.

1. Is the built in MMS the only option? The very primitive interface, the lack of audio capabilities and the missing option to set the length of the playing time does not impress me. Any third party alternatives, plugins or whatever?

2. Certificates... No unlocking OTA for Danish C500, it seems. Instead I had Orange Developer UK send me an unlocker application. It works, but only partly. Before I was able to install, but not run, Sprite Backup. After setting the security to low with the Orange app, I can't even install! And yes, the unlock works on other apps.

Looks like the C500 has several levels of certificates, and this unlocker does NOT open everything. I read about aeunlock being able to, but it doesn't run due to a lack of... certificates! Dough! Any solutions?

3. Since Sprite Backup won't run, are there any other backup programs that will?

4. I plan on getting the 64MB MPx, so I won't be spending a fortune on true GPS for the C500 now. On my SE P900 I have licensed a program called 'Wayfinder'. Not the complete GPS package, but only the smaller one that shows maps of your route. I need something like that for the C500, capable of running in Denmark. I'd prefer not having to download maps for every single city. Does this exist?

5. A Screen shot program capable of doing .jpg, so the pictures can be attached to MMS?

I have just finished downloading a screen capture program from your link. Thanks!

But... For some reason the Danish C500 IMEI's isn't in the Orange database. So even running the downloadable app and registering the C500 won't change a thing...

I have gotten a bit wiser since my post above! Now I know that there are 3 standard levels of security, not 2.

A fellow Dane asked the Developer site for the unlocking app and received one with the 3 security settings: high, low and disabled. For some reason they sent me an unlocker with only high and low, so it's kinda useless...

I have contacted Orange Developer again, but they are very reluctant to reply. Only 1 of my 4 messages was answered, even though this is a rather serious issue. Had I known this would be a problem again (like the first SPV), I wouldn't have bought the C500 in the first place. My new C500 is in the box again and ready to be sold, if this doesn't get fixed very soon... :-(

Great news! Orange Developer has found the bug and is now issuing new unlockers. Write them at [email protected] and include info about model, IMEI and your name, if you are experiencing problems with application locks.

So... Two (three) down, two to go! Anyone with info the upgrading the MMS of the C500 to something useful and/or a good map application for other countries than the UK?
