Guest cyrilthefish Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 right, as i get unlimited email addresses from my ISP i use a different email address for each website i use to track where any spam emails come from. sadly, the one i used on my modaco profile is getting more and more spam... not just the regular viagra ones either, fake bank emails trying to scam people into giving out thier bank details (most common ones are claiming to be from 'citibank' or 'suntrust bank') i've now taken the email link out of my profile, and forwarded that email address to the special 'blackhole' email address the ISP set up that just deletes anything sent to it... just thought i'd warn some people about it ^_^
Guest pisquee Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I only have the one email address, and don't wanna change it, so use www.spamarrest.com - it does the job really nicely
Guest Jon_ Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 you cant really blame modado for spam, i set up a email address on my account (i have 20 free adresses with my isp account) and didnt use it for anything at all and after 2 days the spam was flodding in...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 ANY site where you allow your email address to be publically viewable will be picked up by web spiders and added to spam lists. There isn't an awful lot you can do about it unfortunately... ^_^
