Sending a pic via MMS with U.S. T-Mobile

I was curious if anyone has sent a pic using MMS to an email address and uses T-Mobile in the U.S.?

The reason I am asking is I'm trying to figure out something. When I send a pic, the pic is considerably smaller (e.g. dimensions and byte-wise) in the email than the actual picture taken by the phone.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or is it something I'm doing wrong.
