Guest joecov Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 can anyone recommend a usb bluetooth dongle for the pc? I am looking at a few, all are pretty cheap, just wondering has anyone used one with the c500 and other devices with success, thanks.
Guest Confucious Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I bought an EOoX one years ago because it was the cheapest available at the time - it works fine with my C500. Most BT dongles use Widcomm's BT stack and they should all work without any problems. I believe the Belkin one does NOT use Widcomm's stack and I have heard of people having problems with it esp. after installing WinXP SP2 so, personally, I would avoid. Good luck. ^_^
Guest Djarid Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I am using the TDK dongle quite successfully. It works well for active sync. Although I had some problems initially as it installs the widcom BT stack and it conflicted with the XP SP2 BT stack. I DLd the latest version of the software from the TDK website. installed it for the driver and then uninstalled it... leaving the driver behind which allowed the XP BT Stack to see the dongle. Work great now. I can even use my fortuna with mappoint ^_^
Guest joecov Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 yeah, d-link do quite a good one also, how many devices have you paired with it simultaneously?
Guest RossDargan Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Im using a belkin dongle without issues (apart from the normal probs - having to manually sync, and also the bluetooth local port keeps changing on active sync for some strange reason?!)
Guest rvacha Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I have also used the EPoX with success. Another nice feature of the EPoX is that it is 100% plug & play with Win XP SP2 and utilizes XP's standard drivers and BT support
Guest ghm101 Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I am using a Zoom 4310 USB Dongle With XP SP2 Drivers. It says 100M range (class 1) on the tin and this results in an effective range of about 25-30M through a couple of walls before the signal fails. First USB dongle I've had and it seems OK
