Nokia HDW-3 BT headset, keyguard and voice dialling...

Ok, picked up a lovely HDW-3 the other day from some trader on eBay, got it paired up to my C500 just fine... Here's the problem: If the keyguard is off, I can hold the headset button down for two secs, get the beep, name the contact I want to dial, hey presto, phone dials...

Now, if the keypad is locked on the phone, holding the button on the headset for 2 seconds I get a murmur of a beep, then nothing... No real beep to prompt the contact name, even saying a name hoping it's still waiting to listen results in nothing...no contact ever gets dialled, unless the keypad lock is off...

Anyone know of a workarond to this :?: It seems a little crazy to suggest you have to unlock the pad to use a headset - almost defeats the whole idea of voice dialling

If this is true, then its almost (but not quite) a show stopper - I cannot believe that it has been designed in such a way.

It is true I tell ya ^_^ It's ok to leave the key guard off when the phone is in the lil pocket in front of my gearstick in my Puma, all together a different story when the phone is in the back pocket of my jeans :D

What's more, I'm 99% sure it's not the Nokia headset at fault... The phone sort of responds, just not in a manner to activate the voice dialling feature

Voice dialling is allegedly NOT possible with keylock on.

This however, IS THE SAME BEHAVIOUR as the Nokia 6230 handset itself, and the headset type is not the deciding factor.

When I looked into this with my Nokia 6230 phone, I was told it was a security feature - otherwise other people could make calls withoput knowing a keygaurd code...

Mmmmm....

horse sh!t Not being allowed to make calls without knowing the keyguard code, with a bluetooth headset PAIRED to the damned phone...

Who makes up these absurd ideas

Can I second those profanities? Lock keypad, put phone in pocket, stick bluetooth headset on, try and do a voice dial ... it doesn't work.

This is mind-numbingly stupid. At the very least there should be an option to switch this stupid functionality off?

Anyone know if this is the same on the Symbian devices?

Well.. just called Orange on 0500 802080, got pushed around a few telly tubbies to be told that's just the way the C500 is... keyguard on, no voice dialling...

Ludicrous to the extreme
