Guest Bailster Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 First of all, this is my first post, but I have been using the site for the past month and have got to say it's a quality resource. ^_^ Right, I've had my C500 around a month now and today I noticed the dreaded dust problem for the first time. But, before making the call to Orange I decided to try and sort it myself without invalidating the warranty. We use SprayDusters at work (Basically compressed air designed for removing dust from electrical equipment) - one short blast of this at the volume button and I had a dust free screen once again. 8) These things cost about 5 GBP from some computer shops and are in a silver and blue can. Hope this works for others.
Guest griff_dai Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Will try this method out for myself! Good work fella
Guest pgm316 Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Great tip, I'll steal a can from work! :P I'm worried about dust build up and I don't even have a C500, thats how bad the problem is! :D Just ordered mine today ^_^
Guest peekie Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 good tip but where does that dust go? if its not blown out of the phone it will return
Guest Doombrain Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Also great for blasting annoying colleges in the ear.
Guest Deanus2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 and if you hold it on spray for long enought the can gts so cold you get ice on the outside then ask a college to hold it hehehe
Guest Kevlarski Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 I tried this and it didn't seem to do much apart from spread the dust down the screen. It seems to be trapped between the 2 layers and can't move or I'm not getting a good enough gap to push the air through. Did you remove the volume button, and if so how?
