Guest beersoft Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Its been a while and i needed to learn how to write propper windowsy apps for your enjoyment i present - batterymonitor 2.0 it is a total rewrite and is faster and less buggy the only features that i have taken out are the logging and homescreen html generation as they seem to have been causing problems in the 1.4 - 1.7 test i did and the current stats for the phones are E200 - 2.1 days MPx200 - 3.4 days C500 - 7.2 days all those test where carried out over a period of 45 days of normal use and averages worked out * all times should be halved if bluetooth is on later Owenbattery monitor.CAB
Guest lukeap69 Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 looks like a great app. i'll try this later. thanks, lukeap 69
Guest nickwaring Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Beersoft, Nice app!... I don't suppose you could would have any advice to assist in the following threads (both are about the same thing) http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=115812 http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=115844
Guest AaronW Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 E200 - 2.1 days MPx200 - 3.4 days C500 - 7.2 days * all times should be halved if bluetooth is on I thought bluetooth hardly effected the battery? :?
Guest shadamehr Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Nice one mate - I'll have to stick this on my C500 and be pleasantly impressed methinks!
Guest sblarsen Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Excellent app dude... definitely a keeper on my c500.... ^_^
Guest harmenzon Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Can anybody tell me how I can install this app?
Guest beersoft Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 hi and welcome to the site to install the app, and any other cabfile based app connect phone to pc and sync using active sync click explore and browse to storage drag and drop the file from the pc to the phone on the phone use file manager or smartexplorer and browse to storage click action on the battery monitor.cab file accept the "ohh its not signed" warnings and the other installer messages it shows and your done later Owen
Guest otacon Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 do I need a homescreen that supports this plugin? or does it appear on my screen automatically?
Guest beersoft Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 it shouldn't matter which homescreen you use, as its just a PE application, you run it (i normaly have it in the startup) and whenever you want to find the power usage load it from the start/programs menu. i have found a minor bug/feature that when you lock the phone without clicking on the done/quit thing it gains focus so it shows the battery time on the locked screen :S i kinda like that but if its a major problem i will (try to) stop it happening later Owen
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 What do the fastest, slowest, average, and last times mean? And everything else, I get the time left (right now it says 3d, 10h and 29 min for my SPV E200). Thanks ^_^
Guest beersoft Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 ok for those not following the ongoing saga that is my battery monitor, this is what the stuff on the screen means battery/charging % = the current power level fastest = the quickest time in minuites that the phone has used 1% of power slowest = the slowest time in minuites that the phone has used 1% of power last = the time the last 1% of power was used in average = (fastest + slowest + last + current + 50) / 5 current = how long the current % has lasted time remaining = the estimated time left, calcualted with bad owen maths from the numbers generated above time running = time running since its been started, or since its been taken off charge now, fingers crossed that makes sense later Owen
Guest squall Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 it does! nice app. The logging feature is sorely missed tho! shame about the issues it raised. my battery still doesnt last more than 2 days :/
Guest beersoft Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 squall, turn of bluetooth descoverable ^_^ later Owen
Guest squall Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 my phone has bluetooth - whats that? i think i got dodgy battery, will give o a phone when i get a chance
Guest fozzie Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 average = (fastest + slowest + last + current + 50) / 5 Hmmm, something doesn't seem right there. Why the + 50 Owen? I'm trying to work out how my C500 has a fastest of 2m, a slowest of 4h:30m and yet an average of even longer: 6h:38m Ta.
Guest beersoft Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 errm, thats something to do with my bad maths ^_^ if you want here is the version with normalpersonmaths in the 50 is a weighting value because in all the testing the average for my e100/mpx200 was 50 mins later Owenbattery monitor.CAB
Guest fozzie Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Cheers mate. I'm still seeing dodgy values. Currently I've got: Fastest: 3m Slowest: 44m Average: 1h 6m Last: 3m Current: 3m I can't see why the average is slower than the slowest? Is it the app or could I have some old measurements being counted from a previous version? I did a complete uninstall, soft-reset, install. Thanks. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest beersoft Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 its the app the reason why the average is high/weighted is because most of the time the phone is in standby/sleep mode i am looking for someone with at least primary school maths to check my workings, but i like the feel of the numbers it makes ^_^ later Owen
Guest fozzie Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Your method looked fine but the average must always lie somewhere between the extreme readings; in this case fastest and slowest (or 50 if slower). For my average to be lower than the slowest reading then either the implementation is a bit screwy or values that are even lower than the displayed slowest are being used? Ta ^_^ Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Fesh Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Y Aren t i getting a .cab file i am only getting a XML Doc & a File 001
Guest fozzie Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 It is a .cab file that you are downloading. Clicking on it will open it up like a .zip file, and you will see the contents of it; those are the 2 files you are seeing. The whole .cab file needs to be copied to the phone and run from there, to install.
Guest Fesh Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 thanks but i tried it again it doesn t seem to work. What i do is that i copy both files and past them in my storage card. after that i try to open them on my Mpx200 and they don t open an error check prompt. there is no file to install on my phone Any suggestion?
Guest squall Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 dont remove them from the .cab file. paste the .cab file in mobile device / smartphone / ipsm/windows / start menu / accessories you can then install by opening the file in the startr menu accessoies menu on the phone
