very confused about rom updating

Hi guys im new here as you see, i have just bought a Qtek 8080 and as i see its current firmware version is 1.7.10.2

First of all, would i see any difference by upgrading the rom?

2) What is the best version?

3) What exactly do i have to do to upgrade it?

Im sorry for bothering but after reading all these posts im very confused! :? I will appreciate your help ^_^

I've had an E200 since it came out (and E100 and SPV before) and have never bothered to upgrade it's ROM yet.

But I might do soon, to get the battery life advantages and to resolve a problem with the Orange E200 über plugin.

I saw some good advice in a signature tag here (sorry can't remeber whose) that said 'if it aint broke don't fix it'.

I've survived a year or so with this mentality but I would be interested in a short version, long after the affair, as to why to upgrade.

Are the problems with the storage card being lost a major issue or not ? It's the only reason I haven't upgraded before and now that I've just bought a 1gig SD card I'd like to know too.

ok i have just upgraded to version 1.9.14.1 and everything's ok. But it still wont write to the sd card. Is there maybe a newer version? I hear there's a 2.7 something version by orange for the e200 and i was wondering if it would work with this one too.
