Guest gavboy Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Went to Enterprise Wireless Technologies exhibition at Olympia today. The Motorola stand had the MPX220 and the MPX on display. They said the MPX would be released by the end of the year. I thought they had canned it - apparently not. I have to say - it looks very very cool!
Guest squall Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 the mpx100 was cancelled, not mpx. does look nice, they had a super early test version at last meet. Although i think its more likely to be begining of next year before we see it in a shop near you
Guest refnulf Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Yep,Motorola Malaysia says January 2005.
Guest squall Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 lots and lots of pictures on modaco if you do a search. here is one http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1115...hlight=mpx+pics The device is called the mpx, however some people refer to it as the mpx300
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 I'm at EWT today... aside from the show being rubbish and the Moto staff not knowing their products... it was nice to have another play with the MPx... it's a nice device, if the processor, memory and camera are sorted by launch ;-) P

Guest Tunney Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 There's a mini-preview of it here.
Guest elhornet Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 That Vodaphone stand at Heathrow has a cabinet with the Razr/220/MPX in it too. I really hope the MPX comes out, its the perfect Smartphone for my needs (providing they put enough ram in it!)..
Guest B@man Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Gimme, gimme. & we dunno if Orange will even carry it!
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 I have already decided that the MPx is my next phone. I have a C500 and will keep it until January when the MPx is launched and then trade up I think. Dont really care what network carries it either, though it would be nice if it was Orange.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Hopefully we'll have an MPx at then MoDaCo Winter Event to paw... ;-) P
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Awww.... Dont do that to me! :-( I don't think I will have the money to attend!
Guest Pigo Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 I love the MPx... just hope it'll be affordable. I'm not rich (yet). but I wanna have a go with it first before I start deciding. Pigo
Guest jammdodger Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 There's a full review in the 1st issue of Smartphone Magazine (in the UK) They give it 91% which if you look at the other phones tehy've reviewed is a phenomenal score. Anyone interested in this phoen should pick up a copy of the mag. There's some other interesting phones in there too. Cheers, Jamm.
Guest jammdodger Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Hmmmmm....... Reading a bit further it's dissapointing to see that a phone like this is only running a 195Mhz TI ARM chip. Even worse it only has 32Mb Ram and only 3 hours talktime. AND...... they're quoting £300 with a contract and £500 handset only.
Guest B@man Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 jammdodger, Are we sure that these will be the specs to be released for sale?
Guest B@man Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 hmm.....Just looked at their webpage, not very professional for a magazine. What they list for "most popular sites for smartphones" have no mention of MoDaCo!?
Guest jammdodger Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 The mags pretty slick and the specs match up with what pda essentials magazine seems to think the mpx will feature. http://www.motorola.com/mot/doc/1/1052_MotDoc.pdf backs up the talk time statistic too. Even with these problems it's not the end of the world. I know I still want one. It just seems strange that such a cutting edge phone would use such dated technology.
Guest Pigo Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 to be honest it's a big turn off!! motorola always sucked when it comes to battery life. can't they learn anything from the past? well... time to focus on another phone then! Pigo
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 MPX200 had the best battery life for smartphones until the C500 came out
Guest Pigo Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 as far as I know the e200 came out before the Mpx200? or am I wrong... at least it did here in the Netherlands. Pigo
Guest jammdodger Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 So do those that went to the meet have any feedback to give on the mpx performance, etc?
