Guest smith2001 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 very annoyed, i have had to have 4 replacements for faulty buttons and or the '4' key sticking, and now the joystick i have on this spv e200 thinks when i want to scroll down i actually wanna press down, so i rang up for the replacement i knew i could get and i was charged £15 for something they should fix for free and not charge me for as its not my fault!!! the previous 4 i have had replaced were replaced for free no £15 for me then. anyone got any ideas ? ringing a CS person and hope they refund on the ground they cannot charge for not charging all the other times?? Daniel
Guest Jon_ Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 how long since the last replacement?
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 I've had 3 replacement E100's all with Joystick issues before upgrading to the E200. But they insisted on charging me £15 as well. I told them I have been with Orange for nearly 8 years and in all that time I have had a number of phone problems and they have all been replaced without charge. The Orange CS then goes quiet, puts me on hold for a mo then says they will waive it this time. But it does say in the terms and conditions of the handset insurance that you will be charged £15. Good luck getting it back.
Guest pisquee Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Orange's Insurers started charging £15 for each claim, so Orange pass this new charge onto the claimee. It is at Orange's discretion whether they do pass it on to the customer - depends on how many claims, the type of claim, and how valuable a customer they are.
Guest ferret Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 I always thought the £15 was for lost or damaged phones (ie situations where you were to blame). It's used to try and curb negligent or fraudulent claims. Don't take this the wrong way, and I'm not pushing my luck, but I've had countless SPV, E200 replacements with no mention of the admin charge. I find it helps if you 'sex up' the problem. My joystick packed in so I said that everytime I wanted to down, I had to restart my phone and do whatever I was doing all over again. Not strictly true but near enough. I've also had replacement handsets being faulty  "My phone is broken" "How old is the phone sir?" "oooohhh, about half an hour ..."
Guest smith2001 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 last replacement was aug of this year, i was charged recently for an orange care insurance replacement, which i did not mind, that is what i thought the charge was for. so i argued a little but had no choice to give in to the orange lady. tho the TNT man waited outside my house for 10mins tonight whilst i sped home from asda, sod's law i suppose. but he didn't have to and i was very grateful
