Guest Dunx Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Can you imagine downloading Windows updates on you desktop PC, then having to re-install all your software and set it up from scratch. Why do we have to do this with ROM updates for Orange Smartphones!!! :x Surely there is a way to update the OS without loosing all settings. I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it's really annoying.
Guest ferret Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Afraid the only answer is a third party backup program like Sprite and Outlook.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 It's not really the same thing as with the phone you are rewriting the actual ROM image as a whole and not part of.
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 I'll admit it is a pain, but spending ten minutes re-installing your apps is nothing when you consider the bug fixes you usually get with these ROM updates.
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 It's good for the phone in a 'spring cleaning' sense. You'd be surprised at the stuff you don't really need to reinstall and, of course, you'll get better performance afterwards ^_^
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 You'd be surprised at the stuff you don't really need to reinstall I'd agree with that. After the update, there were about 5 applications I didnt bother putting back on!
