Opera BETA - Can't install even though security unlocked...

Having just downloaded the Opera Technical BETA, I set about installing the CAB to my phone.

Only to get:

"Installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate"

BUUUUUUUUUUT...

My phone is not only Security Unlocked, it was done with the generic No Warez tool or whatever, so is TOTALLY unlocked to a higher level than normal.

So anyone else seen this behaviour.

(MODS, I WAS gonna add this to the actual Opera Post in NEWS itself, but it's locked of course...)

try unlocking over the air. The No Warez app is illegal, and there is a debate regarding whether or not it still works.

Squall,

The very reason I used the No Warez tool is because NOTHING else would unlock for me, and even the special tools on the Orange website wouldn't work, as it just could not get my IMEI number registered on the orange database.

Nothing would work, and I wasn't prepared to wait weeks for Level 2 support to respond.

So I found that tool, freely, on a website.

AWarner has since explained to me, what this tool is, and indeed he was the one who told me that it unlocks even MORE of our phone, hence why Orange won't make it general release.

But setting that all aside, alas, it DID work for my phone, and I have happily installed any and every number of Unsigned apps since then, and indeed just tested it by installing another unsigned app after this error message.

That was my point - I am confused why I am getting this on a phone that is ALREADY FULLY APP UNLOCKED...

Mmmmm...

Can you install it ok?

Just tried the PROPER orange Security tool they did eventually send me, specific to my IMEI, and set it to "No Security"

Then rebooted the phone just in case...

And STILL the same error...

How the hell can I get a "Not Digitally signed..." error, on a completely Application Unlocked phone...?

It doesn't make sense...

Can other users reply to confirm they HAVE managed to install this ok...?

will try it just for you, however i have a full set of different issues with running unlocked apps.

My point was the app seems to run on phones unlocked via ota, just hoped that unlocking your phone hte same way would allow it to run

Ah...

If only the OTA unlock would work for me then...

works for me, but seeing as i didnt unlock using No Warez we arent comparing like for like :/

main issue which is a 'doh!' is that if you try to install a cab and it fails it is deleted from the device.. causing the same error again and again.

copy the cab to a new location, and try again..

Took me 10 mins to work this out, but tbh the opera thing is a data cost minefield, i prefer pie!

Will, I just copied the cab over to my Storage Card instead this time, tried it again, and got the same error.

Is there something else I should be doing...

Because I have now not only used my IMEI specific orange tool to unlock my phone, but I have just now done an OTA unlock too...

So do i need to do something else first, to clear the cab from memory...?

hrm. well this is wierd. i would 'imagine' that the permissions are all messed up. personally a hard reset would be the next step..

am i correct in thinking you can now decertify the phone using hte ota tool? - just use this not the 'other' one.

good luck!

Oh bloody beejeezus man!!!!

I just downloaded the Opera Beta again...

And this time the filesize is 2.09MB (2146KB)

Before the cab was 1.08MB...

So obviously a corrupt file itself...

BUT...

Why the HELL does windowsmobile give such godDAMN stupid error messages...

I've spent HOURS trying to resolve security on my phone, when the problem was the cab file itself was incomplete, but the phone gave a totally different and incorrect error message.

Nice one Microsoft...

(And yes, it's now installed FINE!!!!)

DAMNATION!
