Silver Audiovox? Or SP3i without the joystick?

Hey there:

I'm pretty much sold on the new Audiovox variant of the C500....but I don't like the black plastic of the phone.

I'd really prefer to get an 850 GSM version of this phone in silver tone.

But, the SP3i doesn't fit the bill as it has a joystick and I've heard many stories of HTC joysticks failing.

So, can anyone tell me if there is a US variety of the C500 (with 850 GSM) on the horizon in silver tone, without the joystick?

I assume you mean GSM not GPS ^_^

The silver version of the C500 is only available in limited numbers in the UK - I don't know if it is available elsewher, but, IMHO, it looks cheap and tacky compared to the black version which does not look (or feel) plasticy at all.

Hope you find what you want . I love my C500 (Black).

confucious, i have the silver c500 and in no way does it look/feel cheap and tacky, in the flesh the silver C500 is MUCH better than the black one in my opinion

as for joysticks failing, the SP3i hasnt been released yet, and the joystick was just fine on the E100

Midnight: Thanks for your thoughts on this topic. Really thought that the joysticks had been problematic. Even if they have been perfect, though, I just really prefer the rocker button (even with its faults). Soooooo, it be perfect if I could simply find an Audiovox, but in silver.

I sent my question off to the Clubimate folks last night and received the following reply:

Not very helpful. I've e-mailed back to ask if there will be an SP3 available in GSM 850.

Here's the reply that I received from the Clubimate folks. Again, not very helpful and they don't even mention the SP3i.

It seems that this would be good opportunity to pitch a new product, but nadda....you have to read carefully to note that the writer states that they don't CURRENTLY offer an SP3-ish phone with GSM 850. I guess in a week or so, their response to my question would likely change to "yes, we offer a GSM 850 phone, but, dude you are stuck with the joystick":

Thank you for writing in, the i-mate SP3 is only available in the tri band GSM/GPRS module (900/ 1800/ 1900 Mhz). As of now we do not have any smart phones that operate on the GSM 850 module. Oh well. If, in the future, anyone ever hears of an SP3i without the joystick or a Silver Audiovox (even if it is just a face plate for the existing Audiovox), please pm me.
