Guest peterweg Posted October 16, 2004 Report Posted October 16, 2004 I've trying to using the push to talk feature. When it send a message to a desktop MSN its recieves a link to the Agile website with audio file. Problem is . aside from 'tszzt' when it starts. its completely silent. Any ideas?
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Haven't tried this one, but most you have to hold down the button while you talk. If you let go too soon it does that. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest peterweg Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 I've tested it more. Its show a progress bar as you record, which confirms that its recording. When I play it back on the phone (via a menu command) it plays maybe half a second then goes click-click-click for the duration that I originally held the button down. So, the desktop user gets exactly what is recorded - a six second message with hald a second of sound. The wav file it sends is tiny, so it seems to getting the length (time) right but not putting sound into the WAV file. I haven't tried it mobile to mobile yet, but this doesn't seem right. Where is the manual, I can't find one.. Its on a c500.
Guest mrpearson Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 I have a C500 and also experience the same problem you are having. A Tsst noise when I press the button, but it does not record anything at all. I have tried mobile to mobile and mobile to web. (ie. The other person gets a message with a link to Agile's site to hear the message). I hear nothing. Have also tried the software feature, listen to recording and hear nothing. It may have something to with the button interupts. ie. You can't press two buttons at the same time on the C500, hence holding a button may block all other functions. The MPX200 did allow 2 buttons to be pressed at once (better for games) so it may work in this, however the push to talk is only a Windows Smartphone 2003 feature, so who knows. Would be better if the recording started with the press of a button and stopped with a second press like voice memos.
Guest peterweg Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 I have made it records parts of words, so it is doing something. You might be right about the c500 button issue being the root cause. I don't want to have to press a button to stop, but maybe there should be the option, thats how its done on other versions.. sblarsen Can you re-confirm the push to talk feature works in all cases on a c500? Are you based in Denmark, if so do you have a UK Orange c500
Guest spacemonkey Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Also it may be the autorepeat on the key. So press it send one "key" to the program, then half a second later it starts repeating the "key" rapidly... could line up with the behaviour we're seeing...
Guest mrpearson Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Holding down the key to stop and start the recording seems to work ok, (ie. The record bar keeps going until you release the button) however no sound... I have emailed Agile to see what they say - No point speculating unless we know how they have designed the software or understand exactly the phone's button interupts work. Will let you know what Agile say.
Guest peterweg Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Upgrade to the latest ROM, it hasn't fixed Agile Messenger 3.0 push to talk problem. Press a button and it records one word -if your lucky - then nothing.
Guest Gsxr750 Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 Do you have xbar running that was my problem removed xbar to test and now its fine ..c500
Guest peterweg Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 No, but I think I might install it. Anything at this stage, I want to use it for a bike to bike intercom GSXR-750. Very nice. 955i myself.
Guest bond Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 hey guyz.... taklin about the agile messemger in whole its a lovely program.. really good in many ways.. but gettin to the topic.. over here PUSH TALK here works fine... the way it works is... when u are chatting to someone and u record a message and when u press send the other person gets a link where he or she has to click on in order to listen to it... so it also depens on the other recievers end if he or she has some thing ike link enabled... try the PUSH TALK with several ppl and see... good luck guys.. bOnd
Guest Pigo Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 I doesn't work on SP2002? weird because I tried it with my Mpx200 and I swear I had the same problem as stated above.... so shouldn't that mean that it works? :? Pigo
Guest peterweg Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 I'm now conviced that the 'action' button is faulty, possible the entire keypad. With the new ROM upgrade I can press the action and other keys at the same time. For instance Action+3 or 4 switches between input mode T9,123,abc (same as * key, which still works) while inputing a text message or * if you are in the home screen.. Action+6 is the right softkey, Action+5 or 1 is the left softkey
Guest ddocta Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 I have gotten this same problem on my SMT 5600. I have only tried it once and I was sending the message to myself on my phone over AIM, but playback gave me the same as is benig described.
Guest gnagis Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 works fine on my 7070 (E100) just press the button and hold it for a sec and then talk
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 I can make the recording .. but like some other people report ... it only actually records like a split second ... the rest is just silent... very odd! Might be an x-bar incombatibility problem! Will test that a lil bit later!
Guest jray225 Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Well im fairly new to this phone just got it 4days ago but still having a problem on the smt 5600 with the push to talk has anyone solved it? thought i might just try their smart phone beta version instead of the smart phone 2003 beta?? been working keyboard repeat delay and sound issues with this... below im guessing is the culprit the keybd_device _silent_repeat. Guessing that command is garbing control of the wav input The input system pulls the keyboard event from the queue and calls back to the driver's KeybdDriverVKeyToUnicode routine. The driver analyzes the specified key event and the virtual key state and generates the corresponding characters. The input system then sends the virtual key and the characters to the appropriate application. Note that the keyboard driver must add the flags KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT or KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT_REPEAT to the virtual key codes it submits to the input system in order to suppress audible key clicks dont know if that helps still working on it http://www.talkaboutcomputing.com/group/mi...ages/70194.html KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT_REPEAT problem. by JY Kim <jkim47.n0zpam@[email PROTECTED] > Apr 20, 2004 at 10:17 AM I met some problem in key sound in PPC2003 This problem didn't happened when I worked with PPC2003 last year. but this happens in this year PPC2003. I tried to prevent application keyr epeat sound by ORing KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT_REPEAT with VK_LWIN and 0xC1, 0xC2.. 0xC7 But still sound is heard and OS didn't recognize release of key. I mean.. when I ORed KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT_REPEAT notes is not stopped when record key is released whether key sound is enabled or disabled in control panel applet. and once other application is launched by pressing application button, it is not launched by key. Moreover, though I have prevented repeat key sound by KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT_REPEAT, repeat key sound is still heard. When I have ORed KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT instead of KEYBD_DEVICE_SILENT_REPEAT, sound is not heard but problem still exist. button release is not recognized. Has anyone met this problem? Please answer Thanks. think im getting really close now this maybe why its a problem on some phones and now on others
