Guest craigp Posted October 16, 2004 Report Posted October 16, 2004 Hi, As part of my job is it paramount I do not miss SMS messages. I need an SMS notification sound to be long but with the option of stopping it. I don't care if it is a single long WAV, repeated small WAVs (perhaps via Script mod), or even MIDI but I DO need the ability to stop it (at 3AM the missus gets very upset otherwise ^_^ ). I can't be the only person in the world that needs long SMS notification can I? Can anyone help?? Craig PS I am running 2003SE on a C500 if that is relevant (although my previous MPX200 exhibited the same behaviour once flashed to 2003)
Guest zeta101 Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 sorry i dont know any definitive way of doing this, but just a thought of a slight workaround maybe...what if you have the long sms tone, and in order to stop it is it possible to press the power button (to bring up quick menu) and then select silent? then you can switch it back to the nrola profile after. not sure if it will work, but try it ^_^
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Long SMS tones cannot be stopped unlike ringtones. Moved to Help and Advice
Guest craigp Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 zeta101, Interesting idea ... a little fiddly to do perhaps in a dazed state ^_^ but certainly better than what I've currently got ... thanks for that! To any smartphone programmers, I realise it is possible to tap into the SMS notification event (e.g. SMSNotify2004), would it be possible to call an application that would allow a keypress to stop the WAV? I've never programmed on the Smartphone but I do code for a living so if someone could give me their opinion whether this is worth persuing I would appretiate it. Cheers all! Craig
Guest fcruson Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Any update on this topic? I do not know why there are not more app available to control your SMS notify. I and others I know are getting rid of our pagers and using SMS, but same story miss the one ring and you are out of luck! I am looking at SMSNotify 2004 Version 2.1, but I do not know if this will do the trick.
Guest jasonh Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Hi SMSNotify 2004 itself will not do it, however, there is currently a free plugin (in Beta 1 stage) for those who have purchased Version 2.1. The plugin is called Contact Reminder and what it does is allows individual contacts to be setup to have a reminder event associated with them. If they do, then when that contact or number sends a SMS message, a reminder window will be displayed every (1,2,5,10,15,30,45 minutes or an hour, what ever you decide) until you dismiss that window. So, if you have a contact and assign an event reminder for every 1 minute, if you do not dismiss the reminder window then every minute, the contacts default tone ( or the default phone tone ) will be played and optionally vibrate the device as well. Some quick info on Contact Reminder can be found on a link on http://smsnotify.developer.net.nz . Any other queries or suggestions, feel free to post them here or email [email protected] Jason
Guest c_zal Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Would be great if someone could code a small program to stop the sound. so craigp, it is worth persuing. This thing exist since my Qtek7070 (2002)
