Guest Br1an_g Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 can anyone tell me if gprs costs more from abroad? noob question. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mavisdavis Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Yes it does be warned. I cant give you figures as such but just be carefull. No checking emails at random or browsing all the time. There is a thread somewhere in here about this.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 You're looking at £10/meg or there abouts....
Guest Djarid Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 It is actually £28 / Meg At least that is the cost while Roaming in France. I have this figure from O.
Guest chiquita Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Yeah I got whacked with a £20 gprs bill for only half my two weeks in Portugal recently, didn't do much except check the weather, footy scores and general news - I haven't looked at the other half of the stays bill...
Guest pisquee Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 The information is readily available on the orange website ... http://www.orange.co.uk/services/orange_gp...gprs_table.html
Guest VapoTrini Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 wow you guys have it hard. I pay about $17.00 US for unlimited. I'm in the caribbean btw.
Guest CheekyChappy Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Hey guys, is it possible to buy a SIM card from abroad and then use GPRS at the local rate?
Guest ferret Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Can't see why it shouldn't, as long as the phone is SIM lock free. Personally, I think it defies the idea of going on holiday, I really don't want people contacting me and don't give a damn about what's happening in the world.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 But the geek in me tells me that its cool to say you're msning from your phone in Spain? ;p
Guest pisquee Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Just cause you're abroad doesn't mean you are on holiday! ;-) some people work abroad!
Guest ferret Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Poor pisquee, you still a sound engineer?
Guest CheekyChappy Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Just cause you're abroad doesn't mean you are on holiday! ;-) some people work abroad! Yep I am working abroad :P Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone know a starting point of where I can find the GPRS settings/WAP settings for overseas countries? I'll be in Italy, France and Austria... ^_^ edit: lol, cool board, just type what you're looking for and it'll come up eh? How about... naaaaaah :D
Guest peterweg Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 wow you guys have it hard. I pay about $17.00 US for unlimited. I'm in the caribbean btw. I've check other countries charging (say Hong Kong roaming in Europe) and the rate seems to be about 10gbp/Mb in general. This is extortionate, and I doubt your unlimited usage will include international
Guest pisquee Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Yup, still a sound engineer, and working on a cruise liner. Thought at the moment i am on leave, so at home in county durham.
