I seem to have a very poor battery experience compared to everyone else. i charged the phone properly when i first got it but am still having to charge every night like i did with my mpx. ive tried the hard reset trick to no avail. i dont listen to music or watch movies on it but have gprs on most of the time. i dont really want to send the phone back as it has been sim unlocked. is there anywhere that i can buy a original battery from?

Hi

Having a constant GPRS connection is the same as using the phone to make a call and that will drain the battery faster than using the phone as a mp3 player

would be good to know what network you use and if you have setup mail accounts that may crawl for new mails every 15 minutes or so.

specs of the phone say that it is good for two hours continousely usage of gprs so if you crawl for mails permanently you definitly drain your battery that fast!

Yeah i have mail being checked every fifteen minutes. Does it really use that much battery just checking for mail? I am on uk o2.

well then - this IS your problem then. as it says in the specs (damn i can't find them anymore) the gprs connection sucks down your battery in two hours (indication of active connection is not the "G" but the "g" at the battery indicator).

best idea would be if you disable that check for some days to see if it brings you on a standard battery consumption level. if you still run out of juice after 24 hours you have a faulty handset. from my view here it is simply your mail check every 15 minutes that brings you down to the charger that quickly.

so not that i have gprs on all the time for my msn, just the mail check every fifteen mins. Cause on my mpx i used to have gprs on all day long but still have the same charging habit.Posted from my SmartPhone!

just give it a try to make sure that you don't have a faulty handset. will be ok if you switch it off for one day to see if it really has that strong impact.

i imagine having a mpx220 that permanently tried to pick up mails from at&t and it brought the battery to collaps within 6 to 8 hours because i had no at&t account and the mpx was trying to get connected...

ufff - i found it - check it out fcc's test report! details on page 15 of "Users Manual Part I" @ FCC pages.

remember - its not about being connected but about pumping/trying to pump data - e.g. mails from server to inbox!

cheers, lutz
