Voice Recognition and SMT5600 AT&T wireless

Hey all -- I just got my 5600 and was under the impression that it would have voice recognition installed on it... It doesn't... I got it through ATT and while I am LOVING the phone, I really wanted voice recognition... Any suggestions / advice? Am I wrong about it having vrec in the first place?

It has got voice dialling, but not voice recognition.

Does the C500 have voice recognition? I really wanted that feature -- I'm willing to return this and get a C500 but then the other questions come up... does the C500 have WM10? Is it missing anything else? Why the tradeoff? Why can't I have my cake and eat it too.

What exactly do you mean by "voice recognition"? Are you talking about voice dialing (i.e. say a contacts name and it automatically dials it), or are you really talking about voice recognition, like "phone, turn yourself off"?

Doesn't come on either phone, but gives you the ability to dial by number or name, without having to first create a tag for that name.

The C500 doesn't have voice recognition and I suspect the 5600 doesn't either ^_^

If you wanted voice recognition then you would probably need to purchase something like Fonix VoiceDial

OIC -- I thought Windows Mobile 2003 SE had voice recognition built in... I guess it's just a feature of the mpx220

From what I've seen the MPX220 comes with Microsoft's Voice Command software pre-installed. The C500/SMT5600 do not... You could always buy it and install it if you really wanted it though.

As far as I know the 220 doesn't have voice recognition built in, likely it only had voice dialling like the HTC Typhoon (C500, Audiovox, etc)

It has got voice dialling, but not voice recognition.

I have voice commander on my 5600. It lets you call contacts, start programs, it reads your SMS, email, calendar, and more. It works great.

How are you able to access Voice Commander on the Audiovox 5600? Which menus/buttons etc.

I just hold down the Start button(left on home screen) for a few seconds and it says what do you want?? It lists available commands on the screen and you say what you want.

I can confirm that the 220 does have voice recognition pre-installed. You just press and hold the volume key "up" and it asks for you to give it a command such as "open calendar" etc.

Voice commander?? I thought it was only available for Pocket PC -- the Microsoft website says it is coming soon but it's not available yet (except if you have a 220 which has it pre-installed)

Did you mean you were using fonix or vito voicedialer?
