E200 Firmware Update Problem

Hi, please help if you can:-

A friend has just bought an E200 off Ebay and I have tried to update the firmware to V.2.7.1.1

I put the phone into bootloader mode and run the update file. It starts to work but then after hanging for a while, I get an error saying "the rom image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your SPV E200" and then it goes on to say check the update for your country.

Could it be this is an imported phone and the UK firmware update will not work. If so is there any way that I can find out from the IEMI where it came from ?

I have updated my own E200 with the same software and it worked fine.

does the phone have the Orange logo? try downloading the software again, it may be corrupt
