Guest Navec245 Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 I just got off the phone with Audiovox customer support (please don't laugh). I was calling regarding the minor irritant that is the small g above the signal bars remaining on, even though you are not surfing. They stated that is how the phone works with no workaround. This is the case even AFTER making a call and hanging up. Pressing the red phone key does not work. Holding the red phone key down only locks the phone. Pressing and holding the Home key does not work either. I have to believe that this is not how the phone was intended for use. Anyone out there in cyber with a suggestion or solution?
Guest martin Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Press and hold down the home key for the secret menu
Guest Navec245 Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 I have tried that, pressing the home key. It locks the phone. I hope someone comes through with a workaround for us US users of this phone. I don't know if this is an issue outside of the US. Would love to hear comments.
Guest bugsy Posted October 21, 2004 Report Posted October 21, 2004 I installed the Smartease app available in this thread: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=1142...shell+smartease If you untick the option for always on GPRS the connection on the SMT5600 will drop as soon as you hit the end key. Works like a charm.
Guest smittyofdhs Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 just for clarification the G is suppose to remain there on the iconbar. It's to show you that a GPRS signal is available, it has nothing to do with if there's a connection made or not. ALL MS smartphones and PPCPE do the same thing, it's not a bug. As for the small G you get over the signal indicator during an active GPRS connection, on the 5600 that will not go away nor is there a way to stop it by pressing the end or home buttons. Again, this is by design. When these phones starting coming out, there was no always-on GPRS and everyone wanted it. Now, everyone can have always-on and all I read is people wanting to not have it... go figure.
