Guest jl Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 Hi, This seems like it might be a common question, but I couldn't see it in the FAQ or anywhere else.. I really want to use MSN Messenger from my phone - I've downloaded and installed Agile messenger, and it works fine, but completely quits after a call!! This isn't really much use to me, I want it to run all the time.. is there any way around this - either to get it not to quit or to automatically restart after a call? Also I've only had my phone for two days now, I left Agile messenger online and connected last night, and when I woke up this morning ( didn't have any calls that I know of) Agile messenger application wasn't running. At what point does the phone decide it's time to turn off an idle application? Is there any way to make it not do this? Thanks for any help/advice. JL
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 AFAIK there is *no* way to keep an IM client active (I had hoped Agile might manage it, but obviously not) The built in client does exactly the same thing. As for idle apps closing, I don't know if it can be prevented. There is a "keep alive" option in Smartner Duality email client, but I didn't keep it for long enough to try it out. An option like that in an IM client might be enough. I wonder whether the macro feature in xBar might be able to do something useful here? Maybe you could write a macro to send a message to a contact in your IM client, and then schedule that macro using crontab in xBar? Maybe?
