SP3i GSM 850 Version Coming Soon...

I've been looking for an unlocked GSM 850 smartphone for a long time. After giving Motorola the first shot i've given them in 5 years, I am once again disappointed and looking elsewhere.

I e-mailed I-mate on the GSM850 SP3i and here's what went on:

To whom it may concern:

I am very interested in purchasing this phone when it is available for sale.

My problem is I don't know of any retailers that will carry the US Band version (850/1800/1900). Can you inform me where I can buy one or if you can sell me one directly?

On another note, a non-reputable retailer in the US called TekNToys sent me the following response:

Hey <><>, we expect them in stock in a week.. the sp3i is a quad band phone Set up in a dual tri band configuration which means you are either operating it on 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900 and switch between it via a software switch

Would be great if that were true!!
