Guest Sage Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 Hey guys, i have been looking at MS Pocket Streets for Smartphone and Mapoplis though i cant find any maps for Melbourne Australia, does anyone know where i can find some? or even a different program that does support these maps? Thanks in advance ^_^
Guest Belac Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I think i've explored every possible solution; Mapopolis are in negotiations at the moment with a company to provide them with electronic maps for Australia. MS Pocket Streets now has Australian maps, but they are VERY basic. (just checked this for a link and it seems MS have pulled the Australian maps?) VITO SmartMap has an Australian Map available, but its also very basic and only includes major roads and cities. Navman do not have any Smartphone compatible software. CoPilot claim their Australian Smartphone product will be available in March this year. http://www.travroute.com.au/products/smartphone_info.html Destinator also claim their Smartphone product will be release in March. http://estore.pressd.com/cache/header-586p...0.html?cache=no OziExplorer have no plans to release a Smartphone version. Basically, wait till march, then cry at the huge price tags CoPilot and Destinator will place on the software.
Guest Sage Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 microsoft pocket streets 2005 has damn good maps of australian cities!! tho only 2005 not any other.. the maps are free to download and will work with 2004 tho you cant search for street names without 2005.
Guest Sage Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Ms has removed their AUS maps for download.. i got em before they did tho ;) they are actually not very good.. i need better damnit!
Guest chucky.egg Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 (edited) Depending on what you want you could use GPS.PI and make your own maps. Doesn't do SatNav, but it can send your location to another phone if you get lost in the bush. Assuming you get network coverage of course http://www.jgui.net/gps/gpspi/ Edited April 28, 2005 by chucky.egg
