Hi – after almost 11 month problem free use my MPX200 (OS 2002) battery is playing dead/nearly dead.

Only thing different is that I had last weekend away and used the mains charger instead of the computer cradle. All fine over weekend, back in cradle charger Monday morning, charged whilst using computer (most of the morning) back on cradle Monday evening – then up to bed over night – Tuesday morning I woke to a blank screen and no way to charge battery (neither cradle or main charger worked)….resurrected it using my husband battery to kick start and hard set (needed to clean it in case it had to go back to Moto!) and then put my battery back and it charged 100%. But since then the battery drains within hours. I did use IR to send a contact, and not sure how to turn this off? (Do I need to turn it off?).

Have been looking at new batteries and I’m confused. Prices start at £6 (ebay) up to £49.95 (orange web site). All have different numbers but all say suitable for MPX200.

Cost isn’t a (big) issue (if I have to pay £50 to get my buddy back to full happiness then I’ll have to do that) but I do want the right one – it’s the numbers that are confusing! For instance, the orange (860mAh) one seems not much more powerful than a £14.99 (700 mAh) one I found ???? Is 160mAh worth the extra £35.00?

Any help please?

Awarner told me earlier that there was no extended battery for the Mpx200 but then again im in the states and have no idea what Orange has to offer.. soo save yourself the 35 pounds? but you would think it would be available all over, sorry if i didnt give you to confident of an answer.

Well, generally the rule of thumb is to buy the largest capacity you can find. Me thinks the original mpx200 comes with a 850 mAh battery (correct me if I'm wrong!). So it would be good to get one equal or greater than 850 mAh.

160mAh is or almost 20% of the original battery capacity and i think that it's a big performance factor, and do'nt only compare the battery capacity but aslo the quality if the cell or materials used, original battery's use high quality cell, and the lifespan of the battery depends on the quality of the cell. and if your saying that cost is not a big issue then i suggest that you go for the original battery.

Ive got an origonal 850mah and a 650mah which I brought as a spare for about £12 from USA. The 650mah doesnt seem to last as long as the 850 but for £12 two of these is much cheaper than one 850. It depends whether you think the extra hour or two usage is worth the extra money. Me I would just get a couple of the 650mah.

Thanks for all the advise - think I know what I'm looking for now (!) ^_^

For those in US - this on amazon is interesting

I bought the 900mAh a week or so ago and it works great. My phone only came with the 650mAH battery (which I've been told is the only Motorola shipped with the MPX200). I leave my GPRS on all day, and it actually lasts all day on the new battery.

Here's the link.

The seller says he ships to the US and Canada, but sometimes these eBay sellers will ship out of country as long as you're willing to pay the difference in shipping.

Wow... this IS cheap... wonder will he ship to Malaysia?

that 900mhz batter is 3.7v, motorolas battery is 3.6v... is that ok?? because having past experiences and knowlege, even .1v can screw electronics up. if all is fine, im ready to buy it too off ebay

I would always err on the side of caution but 0.1v will not be that crucial on the phone.
