Guest Paul [MVP] Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 CNETAsia are reporting here? that O2 have launched the O2 Xphone II in Singapore. Clearly based on the HTC Feeler design, also being marketed by iMate as the SP3i, the CNet link features a number of pictures of the device, including the one above. No word yet on availability of the XPhone II in markets other than Asia... but watch this space ;-) Gushing excerpt from official press release follows... ^_^ P O2 Xphone II sets a new standard for Smartphones Like the O2 Xda IIs, the O2 Xphone II is an icon of intelligent architecture with a striking black design. At only 102 grams, the O2 Xphone II is the slimmest Smartphone in the market. Even as its size rivals those of regular mobile phones, information displayed on the O2 Xphone II is showcased on a comparatively larger 2.2-inch, 65K-colour TFT-LCD screen that is now brighter and with higher contrast. A graphite-coloured, ridged keyboard further provides handsome accompaniment to the phone's black casing, and completes its beautiful looks. Powered by the second edition of Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone Edition operating system, the O2 Xphone II provides a wealth of tools and applications such as secure corporate data, email and web access; personal information management; and multimedia capabilities. An integrated message box lets users organise their email, SMS and MMS messages from a single location. Compared with the original O2 Xphone, the O2 Xphone II is 26 percent slimmer and 22 percent lighter. Battery capacity has been increased significantly; the new model has a standby time of 140 hours and talk time of up to 4.5 hours - long enough for almost any conference call. The O2 Xphone II also delivers on the multimedia front. Users can use it to take 500 digital photos or shoot up to 45 minutes of video footage with sound. For greater multimedia storage capacity, they can slot in a miniSD card to store more photos, extra MP3 files and longer videos. 'Not only is the O2 Xphone II the slimmest Smartphone, it also combines substance with an emphasis on styling. The whole proposition is built around what customers have told us they want from mobile data services: connectivity, productivity and sexy form factor' said Mark Billington. 'It gives them the ability to message, work and play any time, anywhere.'
Guest Microsoft Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 I have started to hate that joystick :Da
Guest peekie Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 The one good thing is the more providers the more popular the type of phone becomes which is good for all of us , more games more applications and more competition for orange which in the end will mean better smartphones and quicker rom updates in the future
Guest Yoko Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Nice device, let's hope it will be available in Europe (esp. Germany ^_^ ) soon! Looks better than the Sp3i champagne tone in my opinion. Hoping & waiting, Yoko
Guest odessa Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 it is just a C500 in another case !!!!
Guest djfuego Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Yes but it has a stick. The C500 doesn't The c500 was not designed with gaming in mind I know, but some people like me want the best of both worlds. Any way of modding a C500 with a stick?
Guest Lyle Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 this one looks better than the c500.. it has a SE T610 touch.

Guest FuNKySoULyBrO Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I'm from Singapore and as of now, I haven't seen this Xphone2 in any shops or as advertised in any of our local newspapers ( which they did when Xphone1 was released ). So those coming to S'pore dedicatedly for this phone, pls take note.
Guest rricardo Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Hi Guys, I am living in Singapore and I wish to inform you that the phone is not, I repeat not on sale here yet. The news is not true. I have checked around island and have not found it at all.
Guest clkweb Posted November 19, 2004 Report Posted November 19, 2004 I am from Singapore, as well and keenly awaiting the release of this phone on the local market. According to O2 website (www.myxda.com), it will be out early December. I think the color is better than the sp3i that's why I'd rather have this than the sp3i. And at least there's only an "O2" tag on the upper right portion.
Guest doaus Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 in australia on the techoni website (www.techoni.com.au) they are showing estimated release 6 december. so it looks like for once, maybe we will have something around the same time as singapore! http://www.techoni.com.au/product_info.php...products_id=408

Guest danz Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I have my brand new O2 Xphone II, and I'm delighted with it. I'm in Melbourne, Australia....and received mine yesterday. The only query I have is....does anyone know where I can get accessories (specifically a protective cover - clear or leather) for the Xphone II (or SP3i)? Cheers, DanZ
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 wow, that phone looks good, i was under the imprssion the c500 was the best, i guess not, did not take long. darn It's technically the same phone just a different case.
Guest NiteHaunt Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 The XphoneII was launched in Singapore on the 11th December 2004. Got mine for 4 days now. It is a sleek and good phone.... But, 1. Bluetooth system adopt does not allow send but only allow receiving of data and pairing with bluetooth headset. 2. Speaker phone - although the option is visible but could not be activate - manual does not state - maybe only works with car kit - do they have one ! 3. MP3 ringtones - it does not allowed. It does play both MP3 or WMA and others. But, some users claimed that if the MP3 is converted to WMA file it can be assigned as ringtones. Till date I had not been able to do it - even moving the WMA file to sound folder in the phone storage - it does not show nor when you highlight on the file itself it does not has that option or function. 4. No accessories - Need a car charger - anyone knows any compatible type in the market - i think it's a 5 pins jack.
