C500 S - SILVER available on ALL talk plans!

Above link shows Orange have made available the silver version to all customers, via the orange shop web site.

Previously only premier customers could get this.

I phoned the orange shop, and it is an on-line offer only, not available for telephone sales.

The only thing is, you won't get the £50 credit for new connections like you do with the Black version.

But sure enough, choose a normal plan, add it to the handset basket, and voila...

this colour thing is so strange as by me in holland the silver c500 is standard and you can choose the colour when you sign, at no extra cost , is orange 1 company or more ??? as the brits should get the same as we do here but don't :roll: :roll: :roll:

Having read this post I am pretty sure that Ornage are running low on black and plentiful in Silver. My original C500 was black but I had a replacement via Orange care on Saturday that was Silver - I actually much prefer the black. As it happens the replacement also had a problem and I asked them to make sure the next replacement was Black - it arrived today....Silver!

Out of stubborness I phoned them and told them I had specifically asked for the replacement to be black as per original. They couldn't understand why so they are sending me another one tomorrow, again stating on the file that it should be black!!! We'll see!

I still think it looks great in black and even if it was the same price I would not chose the silver version,let alone fifty sounds more. But each to his own.

I really wanted a Silver C500, and was gutted when I could only get the black 1, I signed up for a contract on the 28/09/04 to get the £50 cash back offer, even though my crappy O2 contract didnt run out till the 25/10/04, but then they place an advert on TV saying "whatever mins you have inclusive during the day, we give the same again free for off-peak use"......

Devastated, that offer makes £50 cash back rubbish, then I check the O webby and see silver c500's up for normal contracts, so not only did I have 2 contracts going on together, I missed out on the option of a silver 1, I feel well and truely ripped.... ^_^

On the plus side, C500's kick ass and I cant help but love the phone, mebbe I will just respray the cover when it looks tatty (or should I say IF it looks tatty, the phone is in KRUSELL goodness most of the time) 8)

Have you checked out the offer? For £15/month you can get 30 mins any time plus 30 mins off peak. Yippeee. For £15/month I get 120 mins + 30texts a month. The offer doesn't appear to be all it's cracked up to be..... :-k

The silver model, like the black one, is still only free on tariffs over £25 a month. So on the £15 tariff, it would cost £79.99 for the handset. Not sure if you were already aware of that or not.

Something else I havenoticed... It's available for new conracts, but the Silver C500 is NOT listed, for online upgrades... DAMN!

I know that. I'm quite happy with my black one. I was just pointing out that the free evening calls seems a bit of a joke.

The silver one is also £50 more than the black one because although the initial cost is the same you don't apparently, get the £50 credit.

My local Orange shop (Chichester) has got silver C500 available, I'm pretty sure on all talkplans and not just premier ones!

Well I can't get a black one for love nor money!! As per my earlier post I had the black one originally and was sent a silver replacement, this is the latest in the saga!!!

Reported damaged phone to Orange Cust Services.

Sat 22/10

Replacement delivered - Silver. But had screen problem.

Sun 23/10

Reported Screen problem. Could arrange for delivery but cust services rep believed only Silver available.

Mon 24/10

Rang cust services again. Different rep didn't believe that only silver available, put requirement for black replacement in 'special instructions' on replacement form.

Tue 25/10

Replacement delivered - Silver. No problems with phone. Phoned Cust Services to complain about colour. Diff rep said she couldn't understand why they hadn't delivered black. She spoke to another dept. (delivery) who told her that they should put the 'special instructions' info in capitals (!!). Arranged for delivery of new phone for 26/10.

Wed 26/10

Replacement delivered - Silver. No problems with phone. Phoned Cust Services to complain about colour again and obvious breakdown on their system!!. Diff rep said he wasn't sure why. He spoke to another dept. (delivery) who told him that they couldn't guarantee a black phone. Arranged delivery of new phone for 27/10.

So, I'm 99% certain that I'll have another silver phone tomorrow and the whole thing will be repeated again!! I can't quite believe it to be honest, it must be costing Orange a fortune and is getting on my *** to be honest!

Well Orange have not sent me the silver phone, all I have got is the email below. from Alison Tobey.

I emailed her back within 30 mins, and 18 hours later I still have not got a reply asking why, when the website made it available.

I have noticed that they have made the website clearly state now. that it is only for premier customers. (even though the site still allows you to select it on any talk plan)

I have been with orange for 9 years, and they really are going down hill. Its a real shame I used to think they were excellent. Anyway screw them I gave notice to quit a few weeks ago (so I could get the new customer offers) so if they don't want to give me a silver one, I'll have the black one, plus £50 from them as well. (weirdos)

I don't see why most people lust over the silver C500 :?:

I reckon its a pschological (can't spell that word ^_^ ) thing, Orange say you have to be on the Premier Plan so evreyone wants it just because they can't have it as standard.

I think the black is nicer anyway.

I bet where you can choose which colour on any plan black is more popular :D

camera fault on the first one - black

flickery screen on the second one - silver

3rd one is good and silver :D

the last courier to come gave me everything in the box apart from the phone and battery...so i got another licence, charger, sd card, headset and usb cable

see what you can get for free on your replacements :P

I got the Black one and it looks luvly with my krussel leahter case, the silver keys are enough for me.
