ROM update for SMT 5600 onto C500?or media player 10 on c500

hi all

new to the spv c500 and the site, am trying to get media player 10 onto the phone

am thinking if i get a ROM update for the 5600 and blat that onto the phone it would then include media player 10? obviously i would need to put all my message settings etc back in - but as i am not on the orange network anyway its not a huuuuge problem

anyone got any ideas about this, or a better idea for getting media player 10 onto the c500?

it may be possible, if it werent for the fact that there is no smt5600 rom update :/

Actually sparkisgti a search for media player 10 returns, and i quote

"No topics or posts met your search criteria"

So if there is no rom update available, woud it be possible to get a copy of the rom from and exisiting SMT 5600 and somehow flash this onto a c500?

I would love to get media player ten, i have xp media center edition 2005 and with this i coudl take all my recorded tv from the evening before to work with me and watch it on the train. That would be sooo sweet!!

Check out hte threads on c500 sim unlocking, there was away to revert from c500 to 5600 after removing sim unlock. sorry i havent tried it so it may not work, however it is worth looking into

Well, that's an Audiovox ROM. It's entirely up to Orange whether or not they wish to make a new ROM for the C500 including WMP10. They might not think it's worth the time spent on it, or they might prefer to release a new smartphone with WMP10 as a "new feature". It's really entirely in their hands......

It was mantioned on the microsoft website that mp10 was not finished for the c500 yet, so i assume if will be in the future,

On the orange website their is no mention of it, + microsoft develop mp10 not orange, if they are working with anybody surly it would be htc.

i was under the impression that is was going to be released as a install.exe or cab, is this not the case?

Its very doubtful that it would be released as a cab. For one wm9 would still on the phone, and ms have never released update in that way before.

I emailed Orange and asked - this is the reply:

I can confirm that currently we are not aware of any plans to release this software.

Over at http://bink.nu, there is a guy over at the Microsoft campus at the mo, he has posted some pics of media player 10 devices. On another set of pics there is a nice BIG picture of the C500, saying Media Player 10 in BIG TEXT and a nice big Orange logo...
