Guest David5093 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Ive set up my activesync connection and been playin about with the phone. I put in the companion CD and went to Start Here -> Configure your windows smartphone. The CD launches to a site but it says im not authorised to use this site. Any reasons why? and is it worth my while anyway? Other question is can you connect the C500 to your PC and connect to the net using the PC internet connection? Cheers Dave
Guest RT87 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Hey, I will try answer these. O.K, as long as activesync finds your phone and you can explore it in 'My Computer' I dont think you need to go through that internet process. I didnt. Second, yes there is a way! -> Goto you start menu (on the phone) -> 4 (Settings) -> 9 (more...) -> 2 (Data Connections) -> Change available options to 'pass through connection'. Have fun! 8)
Guest David5093 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 I found this post on using the internet connection with the phone http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=2274 and got it working so cheers Dave
Guest David5093 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Oh yeah another thing, until i get myself a job im stuck with the 16Mb memory card, is it cool to just scrub all the orange trial software on it or will that leave broken program links? Do you need a SD reader to format or can you do it from the phone? Dave
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I scrubbed the Orange trial stuff off mine straight away. It was dead easy. You can do it yourself from a PC with a card reader or from the phone by getting yourself a copy of Binarys SP Task Manager software. It has an option to format an SD/MMC card within the phone.
Guest David5093 Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 does the accessories -> clear storage option not just format the SD card? Dave
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 STEP AWAY FROM THE CLEAR STORAGE OPTION !! That will wipe everything off your phone and put it back in the condition it was in when you took it out of the box. A hard reset in other words. It won't touch your storage card.
Guest David5093 Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Ah right i see, hmm dont have a card reader so having to download software onto the phone to do this is a bit annoying, there should be an in-built option in the software to format the SD card
Guest Disco Stu Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Installing software is usually done via ActiveSync, which is quick & easy. I only use my card reader for transferring batches of large files (eg. MP3s) or backing up the whole card.
Guest Confucious Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 In activeSync->Explore->Storage Card just select all and hit delete. 'S what I did ^_^
