Guest shyne Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 can u put a custom sound for when receiving new sms, voicemail, etc.?? if so how??? where do u place the file u wish to use?
Guest otacon Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 you can create the files, but putting any files in windows folder will be deleted after a reboot. Hence, you gotta tweak the registry settings to direct the alarm sounds to come from the SD card. Do a search in the forum, and there will be tutorials on how to do this.
Guest ronny Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 can u put a custom sound for when receiving new sms, voicemail, etc.?? if so how??? where do u place the file u wish to use? place your sound files in: storage>application data>sounds then set your desired sounds under: settings>sounds cheers. ^_^
Guest otacon Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 But that would take up valuable storage space... the other alternative is to save the sound files in the storage card, and point the registry to the folder.

Are you sure about that? I had to edit my registry... if not the phone does not find the sound files in the sd card.

Guest otacon Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 oh... learnt something new today.
Guest shyne Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 i put the files in storage/application data/sounds/ but when i go to settings/sounds my sounds are only available in ringer. but when i go to new sms or voicemail they are not there. what am i doing wrong? i also tried making a my documents folder on sd card but got the same problem. i was only able to select my custom sound for ringtones only.
Guest otacon Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 That's why the registry needs to be tweaked... Point the registry to your folder on the SD card. This applies to Ringtones, Alarms, Messages and all the other sounds.

Guest otacon Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I read somewhere else that do not put the sounds into a folder on your sd card. Can someone please confirm that?
Guest xlaurentp Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I put my custom wav file under Storage Card>xxx.wav xxx.wav shows up under all the sounds setting. When i try to put in under Storage Card>RingTones>xxx.wav the wav file doesn't appear under sounds setting. So i think custom ringtones if want to put inside the SD/MMC card, u got to put it at its 'root' folder.
Guest shyne Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 does it have to be a wav file? could it be wma? cuz wav files are huuuuuuuge
