Guest aadadams Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 On my v600 I was able to manually select the carrier I roamed on from a list in my phone. Is this possible on smartphones. I use a MPx220 on the Cingular network in the US for home, but Cingular has opened the ATT network up to its subscribers and I would like to be able to select it to check it out.
Guest martin Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 You should be able to manually select the network by going to Settings-Telephony-Networks and then use Menu-Select a network. Note: Telephony might be called something else on the MPX200 but is usually under option 1 in Settings.
Guest aadadams Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 I use an MPx220 (not MPx200) and your suggestion is not an option, hence my question. Cingular takes away the ability to manually search for and/or register on networks through their custom ROM. In the triplets phones such as the v600, v500, and etc. one could edit the seem files (files that cntained the customizations) using a hex editor to enable this search/register functionality. My question is does this editing capability exist in the smartphone regime? Does that make sense?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 It may be possible with a regeditor, try PHM Registry Editor downloadable from here. http://www.airfagev.com/downloads1.asp?id=18
