Some Help needed PLEASE!!!!

Hello fellow 5600s,

I first want to say, coming from a motto mpx200, this phone (SMT5600) blows motto out of the waters. From the (it keeps going and going and going) battery life to the crazy sonic speed and loud mouth speaker. This phone really impresses me to the core. The force is now with me. I can no longer go back to motto.

Now for some minor help:

1) Is there a way to turn the backlight off? I've tried eveything in settings. If I have to mess with the registry, please show me how!

2) My wave files keep on dispearing from the windows folder every time I reset (restart) my phone! What to do about that?

3) Is there a way to rearrange the application listings on the "start" menu so I can have the ones I used the most show up first?

4) Finally, how can I make my alarms and reminders REPEAT? One little "blink" is kind of hard to get my attention at 7 in the morning you know!

All help with me gladly appreciated!

sounds like a defective unit and i would send it back. as for the alarm issue i would use a wav file that is long that way it will play for a while since it plays the entire file before stopping

If you have tried the settings in power management, and also made sure there is no program running in the background that is keeping the backlight on then you should at least try a hard reset before returning your phone.

You cannot save files in the windows folder, as they get deleted - you have discovered this. You should save in Storage/Windows or Storage/My Documents, but i would advise saving everything that you can on a memory card, as the more of the phone/storage memory you eat up the more your phone will slow down.

There are ways of rearranging your start menu - you can do a search as there a few threads on this already. I would also suggest a look/search at Surreal Start as this is a great replacement for the standard start menu, and really should be bought by MS and incorparated in the OS to begin with! If you install Surreal Start you won't have any need to rearrange the menu, as it works like the t9 search system for your contacts. You also get it free when you join modaco plus!!! - it is worth joining just for that!

There are ways to make alarms etc repeat but i think there are also issues with getting them to stop repeating once you acknowledge them! Do a search. Best bet is to use a more noticeable sound (wav or wma) file which is louder and longer. There is also an LED flashed tweak available on the forums - (again do a search~!) which will make the green LED flash quicker (every second i think, though i think this can be changed) when a message/alarm/missed call happens.
